QUESTION FOR 1st GEN CAMARO OWNERS

Just was curious what you folks think about the new camaro, and if you remember anything that stands out in your mind when you bought your NEW 1967-1968-1969 CAMARO,

No brainer for me. First gens are my favorite. Second gens come in a distant 2nd. Never really cared for the 3rd or 4th gens.

When I saw the 5th gen, I cried... No joke. It stirred up emotions in me I had long since forgotten.

I struggled for years trying to figure out a car that I would feel comfortable cruising with my kids, the 2010 IS the car I have been waiting on for a very long time.

1967 Camaro/2010 Camaro

I really like the 2010 Camaro so much as it reminds me of all the First Generation Camaros including my first 1967 Bolero Red RS. That is why I am buying a new 2010 2SS to go along with my 1967 RS. I love the styling and colors and the fact that the 2010 2SS has even better technology that my 1967. I still like my 67 Because its simple and easy to work on.
What stands out for me was that when I bought my 1967 RS for $3,000 back in August of 1967 it was all the money that I had in the bank. I paid cash for it as I was still in College at UC Davis. Lucky for me my parents picked up the cost of Insurance, something I had forgot about. I am glad that I kept it through all these years and now that it has been restored I appreciate it even more as there are numerous stories and memories to tell my Grandchildren.

i have ordered the 2010, that is how much I like it.

I will always love my 67 Camaro, it was a Plain Jane, Marina Blue.
Bought in 83, for $2450, with 65,500 miles on the odometer.

I drove the shit out of the car, 199,100+ now.

Yup, the 2010 is very similar, with more power, smoother ride, and things I will never have with my 67.

I guess I must be in the minority, because the 2010 just does not invoke the same emotion and excitement as the 1st gens did...and still do. I've always loved the Camaro and owned a 1st gen, two 2nd gens, and a 3rd gen. My favorite Camaro is the '68 followed by any '70-'73 with the RS option as I never liked the '70-'73 with the full front bumper. After that, it's the '78-'79. Although I've owned a 3rd gen, I'm not that fond of them now.

I do not see the 2010 as a "retro car" as I can barely see the connection to the 1st gens. The designers started with the 1st gens and when they were finished the project manager (cannot recall his name) looked at it and said "it's a '68 Camaro." He then wanted something new and different and the 2010 was born. In my opinion, they took the design a step or two too far. Granted, the 2010 is a nice car. I considered a 2010 but GM removed the UE0 code for Onstar delete and I really dislike the look of the "shark fin." GM moved it to the side mirrors on the newer vettes and I'm hopeful they will do something similar with the Camaro. I'm glad the Camaro is back but it should never have gone away in the first place.

I was only a couple of years old when the 1st gen cars came out, but I remember being a Camaro nut even before I was a teen-ager. I have had 3 69s, 2 67s and I now have a 68 Convertible I bought off of a fellow Camaro5 member. I have also had several 3rd gen cars and 1 4th gen. I love them all. I love the 10 and will get one when the prices drop and I can pick up a used one. I think GM did an awesome job with this car.

Bought a 69 Camaro when I turned 16 in 1976. I loved that car, unfortunatley I wrecked it. The 2010 reminds me of the 69 Camaro.

Owned mostly 1st gens.
My first was a 67 250 inline 6 with the "slip-n-slide" transmission.
Ordering a base(Sorta) V6 with a manual 6spd and a few options.
Gonna get silver, like my 67 and maybe throw on some new Crager SS wheels in the larger size. Make it look like my 67.
2010 Camaro is very little retro, but if you look at it in person can see the style ques from the 1st gen, yet it is very modern.
In my mind it is a home run for GM.

My brother had a '69 RS and a '82 Z28 when I was younger. He never let me drive his '69 RS - and I never got over it. He wrecked it before I ever got the chance. I tried to sneak it out one day - he caught me and we had a huge rumble.

I always thought that 3rd gen and especially 4th gen Camaro's were butt-ugly...just not for me. But I married into a GM family, so to keep my in-laws happy I started buying GM 5 years ago, and have acclimated to the line-up.

I was going to buy a '09 Mustang Bullitt edition, and ran across the 2010 Camaro - and decided to go for it. It's so much more stout and kick-ass looking than the 3rd and 4th gens. And it reminds me of that '69 RS from my past.

I pre-ordered in February and now I picking mine up tomorrow.

I hope my 5th gen NEVER looks like my 1st gen...

all original pre-tear down condition, Oct 2008:

today:

someday back to its former glory...

I have loved Camaros since I could remember. I feel the '10 pays homage to the 69 very well. You can see ques in it and enough similarities. Maybe someday when the 67 is done and the 2010 arrives, they can share the garage with this:

Untill then, we wait...
