Interest in ZL1 Mag Ride Coilover Package?

Hey folks! As some of you may have seen at Camaro5Fest we have been developing a new coilover package specifically for the ZL1 that will use the Magnetic Ride system. This will retain all functionality of the Magnetic ride system, including all ride control and launch settings. Ride height control will be the main goal of this package, and spring rates selected for increased performance are likely as well.

Here is a photo of our ZL1 using our prototype Mag Ride Coilovers... special thanks to Stage9 Media for the great photo! And below is a photo of our prototype mag ride coilover sitting next to one of our next generation coilovers for comparison.

Now here is where we need your help... the help of the folks who actually own ZL1's! Is this a product you would be interested in seeing in the next few months? It would give you the adjustable ride height you're looking for while keeping the magnetic ride system in place. It would be a premium product with a small group of elite dealers authorized to perform the modifications necessary for install.

Would you be interested?

Does it allow for RAISING the car temporarily for tight spots?

Electronic height control from inside vehicle?

ZL1 Coilovers.

I'm getting mine on the 31st! (ZL1 that is) Do i qualify On topic though, I would really love to see these on the market. Keeping the Mag ride is very important to me. The wheel gap on the ZL1 is fine but it could do with some adjusting. Drop springs are a option, but i wouldn't want to mess with the MR system. So my say in this matter is yes as long as a few things are met.

1. Keep the system close in cost to regular SS coilovers.

2. Allow on the fly height adjustment for racers who need to tune adjustments or a DD who wants to look good, but not deal with the scraping.

Just to be clear we aren't intending these for use on cars not already equipped with Mag Ride. The wiring and integrating new hardware into the body control module like GM has done would prove to be really tough.

These parts are just for ZL1 owners looking to improve both looks and handling while keeping their current Mag Ride system intact.

Sorry, not for me. The factory MR system makes the car ride extremely well, much better than a stock SS. So unless I am way off base here, your coil over MR shocks would be able to lower the car some, but maintain the stock MR ride and settings. Since these are only going to be sold at premium dealers, that kinds sounds like a premium price as well.

I am not sure that lowering the car an 1" to 1.5" would really yield better results than changing to better sway bars and bushings for far less money.

Like I said, I could be way off here but that is my opinion based on the information given so far.

This is all really valid feedback. Thanks for the post! This thread isn't about actually selling parts, but putting a feeler out there to see if it's something that ZL1 owners are interested in at all.

Please keep all comments rolling in!

Since this is a product still relatively early in development we don't have a set price point available.

Would you consider a price point that's around a set of normal coilovers?

I have to be honest. I think coil overs are probably not the right thing for me. The ZL1 is already low enough as is and i'll probably just go for bushings and sway bars...
