Car in Michigan - Is that good news??

My dealer called and left a VM, he said my son's car has been left Canada and has arrived in Michigan.

Is this a good news story?? Is Michigan a trans-ship point? Does this mean his SS could be a few days from delivery??

Not familiar with the shipping stuff, but I would think you would be seeing it very soon. I would be stoked just knowing its built!

I may be wrong but I believe QC is in Pontiac, MI (I know I've seen a thread referencing that around here somewhere).

If that is the case then your car may be out soon or it may not -- I don't think anyone could tell you that for sure. On the positive side, assuming it IS QC, the more recent cars seem to be moving out of there fairly quickly.

well the cars come from ontario I wouldnt be surprised that a lot of cars go through Michigan, because you either cross in NEW York for the east coast, or Minnesota for out west, so a good majority probably come through detoirt

That's why this is so confusing. These constant changes are wrecking havoc with my son's ability to get leave to come home to pick up his car. Based on the latest info provided by our dealer my son has requested leave for May 26th to 12 June. If for some reason the car doesn't arrive during that period he can't get leave again until late July.

GM really needs to do a better job of communicating to buyers. At least to the Pre-Ordered buyers.

my understanding (from a few threads here that i can't find) is that QC is no longer in Pontiac. QC is only in Oshawa, unless this changed.

but cars do come from Oshawa by RAIL to Michigan at which point they get put on a truck transport at the rail yard for that portion of the country. we have one in southern Wisconsin also.

think positive. i know Kvapils VIN 891 was released from QC also.......

That's reassuring, it doesn't/didn't make sense to ship the car from the factory to Micigian for QC work. All that extra handling is an accident waiting to happen.

I sure hope VIN 4486 has been gone over and all bugs fixed and is in fact enroute to our dealer here in southern Illinois.

Im in the army good luck with this. What you can do is have him give you a power of attorney and if it comes in it gives you the legal right to sign for the car and evens sign a loan for him if thats what he wants. These are done for free at legal for him if he wants. To be honest to get leave around wthis will be impossible.

We have a POA since he just got back from Iraq, but he has a trade. So that complicates things.

what you could do is take possession of the car without the trade, and then go trade in your car and see if they would refinance at that time.
