Will I die driving through winter?

Hey, new to the site though i've been following the forums pretty closely for the past few months.

Quick run down: I have a 2012 LS at the moment and am deployed overseas- i've decided to take the hit and trade up to a '13 1SS. My question is ill be coming back and purchasing the car around a February, March timeframe.
I'm based in Kansas and driving to Florida for my leave, the iced up roads alone were pretty bad on my way up last winter soo i was wondering how much worse the SS with the pirellis would/will be?

thanks a lot,
Brandon.
(My apologies if this isn't the correct forum- i wasn't too sure haha.)

As long as it is above at least 35 F you should be OK if you drive very cautiously and at a high level awareness. Below that you will find your self in the first ditch. Than you for protecting us by the way.

car is a tank in snow tires. Get some separate rims and tires and slap them on right away and you will be fine.

Don't do it, no worse way to ruin a brand new car than snow and salt and slush, the 3S's. Keeping it clean will be impossible, heck your interior will be taking a beating with the slush and salt on your feet, ugh.

Camaro is meant for sunny days.

Is this what happened to you?
I have driven my P Zeros at 0 degrees many times and had no trouble whatsoever.
Is that recommended? No. But dont talk about what you dont know about.

Weatherbeater or.husky liners take care of the interior. It is a car....it can handle the outdoors.

I drive mine as a DD. Why pay for a car that has to sit. Not everyone has the same view as you do!

Because I want it to last and not get trashed and I don't have to use mine as a DD.

Thanks for the speedy replies, ill look into the winter tires- but fitting another set in the car somewhere seems like it could be a pain (i live on base in kansas, but am from miami) so either way id need to get both sets back or be stuck with winter tires year round :/ . I have done the trip 4 times in my LS and it still looks brand new- in and out. i will admit readily i'm SFL guy and now nothing about winter, salt ect. (first time i saw black ice was PCS'ing up to Kansas and it humbled me pretty well..) So if it comes down to it what am i risking?

car does great in the snow. at least it did for me. just dont think that you can pass everyone or plow through everything. all the power to the rear wheels, it will kick out alot easier.

if you get the ss with brembos, you have to get 20in wheels or bigger i believe, something like that, because the rims dont fit over the calipers.

Last winter I could not even get moving with p-zeros. The tires would spin at idle. I could not not until the snow melted. I bought some all weather tires and got rid the pos P-zero they only warm dry roads.

Drove my '70 Buick 12 months a year for 7 years. Got stuck once, never bought snow tires, I ran 235 60 15s all year. It makes 510 lb/ft at 2200 rpm and has four wheel drums. Got stuck in an ice storm. Once.

Today's cars are not built like my '70 Buick. Ask yourself when the last time was, you saw a rusted out 2001 car? 2005? 2009? Never seen one, have you? Back in the day, five or six winters was trouble. It's 2012 now.

Buy snow tires. The tallest, skinniest ones you can
