New 2012 Camaro owner in Pennsylvania!

Hello everyone!

I just purchased a new 2012 Chevy Camaro 2LS last week, Silver Ice Metallic with the black/silver rims. Really wish I had enough money for an SS(maybe sometime in the future), for that beefy low rumble of the engine to scare the ricer's out there, but I am quite happy so far with the 2LS. I'm 23, and the only other vehicles I own or have driven for the last 5 years is a 2003 Ford Ranger, and a 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis. So stepping up to a 2012 Camaro, even though it's a V6, is like traveling through time, in a way.

My brother works in the parts department at a GM dealership, and was able to bring the car home for one night so I could check it out. I drove it around our neighborhood, and was immediately in heaven. Even now, I still can't believe it's actually mine!

What I was immediately impressed with is its power and ride quality. The only other Camaro I've ever gotten a ride in is my uncle's 1996 Camaro SS, with a V8. My new Camaro has more horsepower than his, and it's only a V6. Plus, the ride quality and comfort is miles ahead of my uncle's older Camaro. After having used my Ford Ranger as a daily driver for the past 4 years, and now driving my Camaro around, the difference is like night and day. Even though I'm driving on the same roads and streets that I've been used, they all feel different and new in my Camaro.

Some of the upgrades/mods/etc I plan on doing to my car are:

Remote start(already ordered through my brother's work, discounts FTW!)
An all weather car cover
PDIM USB module
Heritage body color grille
Chrome surround for reverse lights
all weather floor mats for driver and passenger
cargo mat for trunk
Some kind of Camaro emblem for the dash on passenger side
halo style headlights
foglights
hood stripes along cowl induction area

Are there any other upgrades or mods that are recommended, for exterior or interior?

Maybe eventually if I ever get bored of the car's current power, if that's possible, I'll look into engine upgrades, such as an exhaust system and cold air intake.

Also, if I have questions about some of the things in the list above, or about my car's technical specs and features, would it be okay to ask them in this topic, or make separate topics in the proper forums for each subject?

Anyway, I look forward to being a quality member of this community. I will be posting pictures in a separate post then. I really wish I could have afforded the SS, but maybe I'll wait awhile, and try and get this one paid off, then perhaps trade it in for an SS. Who knows, maybe by the time I'm financially ready, Chevy will have a 6th generation Camaro out!

Welcome, fellow Keystoner!! I like the way the black wheels look on your silver machine!

Congrats on your purchase.....as you can see by my avatar pic, mine is also silver. I am in Eastern PA, about 10 miles from Philly, where are you located?

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I really like the color combinations on this car, especially with the black/silver heritage rims. I may be in the minority here, but I dislike the rims that you get on the higher trim levels. To me, a Camaro is a muscle car(even with the V6), so having 20+ inch rims is a definite no for me, despite any performance gains. I'm not going to be racing my car at a track anyway.

Right now, I work the night shift in a not so good part of town, so I drive my truck to and from work, as I don't want to risk anything happening to my new car. It's really killing me, though, having to wait until I have off to drive my Camaro, lol. But anyway, I am from eastern PA as well, but about 70 miles away from Philly. Maybe about an hour and a half to 2 hour drive.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
