I am thinking of starting to do my own oil changes as it is a fraction of the cost and you don't have to worry about someone not respecting your car.
Wondering what supplies/tools everyone is using on a 1LT V6? Tire ramps? Just a floor jack? Oil catch? What oil filter brand? What oil brand? I am thinking of using Amsoil XL, but still do the changes every 4,000 to 5,000 miles. Thanks for any advice. |

No difference in what trim level (V6) oil you would use
I used a floor jack and two stands (I assume ramps would be safer) Mobil 1 extended performance 5W-30 *Full Synthetic and filter M1C-254 (it's 20$ just to let you know) I don't know if your 2011 is a late model or not but GM put in better timing chains because the ones before than arnt as strong and are prone to problems that being said....the timing chains LOVE Full synthetic oil. Good luck Ps have the oil canister over to the right passenger tire because it Tends to shoots out a little far. (no perverted jokes

Couple of ramps 2 floor stands for added safety and basic Walmart container to drain. Then add in amsoil 100% fully synthetic with wix filter. Easy as it gets.

Don't forget the container of GoJo. Saved me many times from getting yelled at for getting the sink / door / etc dirty....

Yep that filter wrench is the best. Fits right on the bottom. Best $5 I ever spent on a oil change tool
Floor is clean only a few drips Been doing oil changes on these engines 5.3, 6.2 since 2000 by far they are the easiest oil changes out there (location of filter and plug help) Ryan
