Forgestar vs ZL1 wheel questions

A couple of questions.

1) Do the ZL1 black 10 spoke wheels fit an SS? (offset ok?)

2) Any idea on the weight difference between the Forgstar F14 and the ZL1 wheels? (assuming same or similar size)

I really like both wheels and I simply cannot decide. I think the Forgestar are less expensive?

3) I know I said a couple but I have another question...What are the advantages / disadvantages of say running 11" vs 10" in the back and 10" vs 9" in the front? Does the wider tire provide more grip and if so does it offset what ever the extra weight difference is? Does anyone run 11" rear and 9" front.

**Sigh** I am now confusing myself.

ZL-1 wheels will fit. I wouldn't put 11" rear with 9" front too much understeer and harder steering. Forgestars are wayyyyy cheaper, I am not sure of the difference in quality but GM does have good quality parts. Weight may go towards Forgestars by like 1 lb or so if that. 20x10 ZL-1 does fit on the front and 11s fit's rears. Wider tires are going to be more expensive but offer better ride quality. Too wide a tire in front isn't good for driving in rain conditions.

I can't answer any of your questions, but I found myself going between those two wheels, because I liked the way they both look. I decided to go with the F14's and couldn't be happier. To me the F14's with the correct offset tuck in the fenders nicer.

The black ZL1 wheels are lighter than the polished wheels.

I believe the black ZL1 wheels are around 27 - 29 lbs (front - back). That's right in line with the 20x10, 20x11 F14s.

For comparison, SS wheels are around 32-34 lbs.

Im in the same boat. I also like the TSW's but they dont seem to have the right offsets for a 10" front and rear set up. What are the offsets of the ZL1 10 spoke wheels?

What offset are you running? From what I've seen the fronts run too close to the strut.

In my opinion the ZL1 wheels are the WRONG offsets for our cars. Look at how far the fronts stick out.

35 mm all the way around is the right offset. Anything less and they stick out.

grocerygetter did it right with the 10" TSW all the way around.

Looks like they do stick out a little... This is a member from our club. It's nothing that I would worry about though.

Most wouldn't mind, but I'm very anal about wheels sticking out past the fenders.

I kinda like the aggressive look of the ZL1 wheels. Currently I'm running 20mm spacers to achieve a simalir look with my RS wheels. The problem I'm having is I'm also lowered about 2-1/2" so on hard bumps the rears rub the inner fender. My goal is to run a 285/35 front and rear on a 10" wheel. I want a road race set up.

Have you seen the ZL1 wheels in person? I have seen the RS wheels with 20mm spacers and I think they look PERFECT! But the ZL1 offset is like running the RS wheels with TWO 20 mm spacers.
