WHAT IF...........warranty?

ok so im sitting at work... trolling the forums, looking at mods and video's.. getting excited which we all do and i got to thinking....

Hi Flow Cats, Intake and reflash... won't that immediately void my warranty?

then what if something happened and they wont cover it... am i fkd?

or should i not really worry too much because these are so badass, paying for a repair that should have been covered is something that makes my car even bettah.

I thought of doing this as well, and in my experience NO it is not worth tossing away the god-send of a warranty these cars come with.

I thought of a very similar set up as you did but my dealer told me it would cancel my warranty.

A month later my car overheated causing a ton in damages. Lucky for me I had a warranty. I don't see the sense in eating the costs yourself just so you can modify the car a bit.

This is just my opinion and there will be tons and tons of others on here that will disagree with me of course.

Everyone here buys their car with the intention of doing certain things. Some like the piece of mind of warranty (myself included), some want to get all the power they can out of (forget the warranty) and some want to put as many LEDs under the hood as they can... oh, wait... sorry I got sidetracked, lol.
It's yours, do what you want, drive it like you want. If ours runs worry free for a couple of years I probably will be inclined to do some warranty killing mods....

Myself, I got my L99 A6 tuned just after purchasing it. Now my car has full bolt ons and is tuned (and I love my setup).
My car is also over 3 years old and I've had no major issues (no engine or transmission issues).

I've had lots of minor things covered under warranty over the 3 year period. But off course, I didn't fry my tranmission either.

Modding and drag racing is my hobby. S there's no way I could wait 5 years to get my car tuned. I couldn't even wait 1 month.

But L99 A6s need a tune badly. Anyone with an L99 A6 really needs a tune if they're into racing.

Yep, warranty goes out the window. But as you can see from the posters above, a tune and parts are well worth it. There are local members who have had their cars tuned for a while no and have had no issues. Go for it!

Very Near 3 year anniversary (Oct)
Within a month of delivery Oct 2009:
SOLO CAT Backs and CAI. Month later - Kooks headers & hi-flow CATS.With the AFM drone and CEL light from the headers, I immediately bought SCT and tune from Ted....Warranty was history within 3 months.
No issues whatsoever (eeeks, tempting fate...), would i do it all over again? totally. Night and day between this and stock.

Will a Hypertech void the warranty even if it's just to turn off the AFM? If I return back to stock can they still see that I have changed anything?

Yes, your warranty would be void. It doesn't matter if you only turned AFM off. Putting the stock tune back in doesn't do anything. They can still see that you've flashed the ECM.

I was thinking of doing some mods to my car as well and was worried about the same problem. every mod on these forums are so tempting..
I wanted to get magna flow mufflers, new aftermarket projector headlights (the RS headlights run $1200 EACH @ the dealership- HELL NO), CAI, and some new springs to lower the car for starters since mine's still stock besides the rims.

but according to everyone here, it seems its worth getting the warranty voided lol

but mines only about 6,500 miles old. u guys think i should just say "the hell with it" and do the mods?

Basically when you play with a particular aspect of the car - that 'area' is now without warranty i.e the springs, headlights etc. Lets just say the brake calipers started leaking...warranty?? One might argue that because of the springs, you have affected....blah blah - you get the picture. It will ultimately depend on your service manager. Once you 'play' with engine components, consider the whole drive train warranty history.
Exhaust from Cat-back and a CAI? -- huge debates on that, and i leave you to see how much mud flinging that subject can bring up.

So yeah -- your last statement is spot on
