Question An observation on Insurance rates..

Ok. You all know that I am Mr. Camaro gone Coyote GT. But what if I said that it came at a price that honestly felt worse than dropping the soap in a prison shower? I recently got my quotes back for a 2SS and stripper GT Mustang.

And that shower thing.. yeah. Felt just like it:

Over 200/mo for a GT

Just around 155/mo for a 2SS (It went up from 122..:(). A 2SS! Anyone else notice this in the past with either car or even now for those members here shopping around like myself?

my insurance girl told me to figure no worse than a 1000 a yr. i will keep my blazer on the road cause the camaro will not be hauling anything but ass. so i pay 700 a year now she said to count on it at least going to 1400 a year but not more than that and if they raise it more than that she would shop it around and get me the best price.

you are lucky to get that low a price being that young and still in the risk pool. congrats on that. why did you get a quote for a 2ss when it says you have a 1lt?

I got about the same, but the GT + Zplan was tempting. Then I got the quote and as I said in my first post..

Some just ask for a VIN on the car in question. Like I did, he probably gave the company a known 2SS VIN to gauge the rates.

...I'll take a 1LT preeze. SS can wait til' later.

Insurance is one of those things that doesn't really mean a thing.. until you need it.
I've had insurance for as long as I can remember and haven't ever used it.
I keep all my current vehicles at $1000 deductible, dropped the rental and towing coverage...got AAA they are a cheaper towing option....

but....you must have some money in your emergency fund in case you ever do need $1000 for the deductible!

Hum did you deductable change and or coverage requirements?

There are not that many claims in the insurance database probably for new Camaro's yet. Vs all the stangs on the road.

So statistically that's probably why the cost is more in there underwriting formula.

I got quoted

$80/ mo for the 2SS

$95/ mo for the 2010 Mustang GT

I can't understand why the Mustang would cost more !
