Remote On Trigger for an Amp question

I've worn out the search button looking for this answer before going to google and I'm looking for confirmation. For my set up, I am splicing into the rear speakers and running it into an amp with speaker-level input with bridgeable 4 ohm out, to power 2 paralleled 8 ohm subs.

The "remote on" is basically a signal sent to the remote on input of the amp to tell the amp to turn on using the input to the power input terminal (which is ~12V) - is the "remote on" a 12V signal as well?

If so, instead of removing the head unit and accessing the remote enable pin of the radio, couldn't I wire a toggle switch from the battery to the cabin and to the "remote on" of the amp?

I know that with this solution the potential danger is to leave the remote on toggle in the on position and kill the battery - but I am attempting to avoid removing the radio.

Is the 12V outlet in the console only 'hot' with the engine running? If so, I could tap that and avoid the use of a toggle - but I would like to have control of the subs in the cabin.
