Feels like the car is all over the road

Does anyone have any ideas? Over the last couple days it seems that the car is all over the road, even though the wheel is not moving. I was originally worried maybe I had a lug nut coming loose. I will be driving straight and then the car will feel like it pulls a few (4 to 6) inches to a side. If anyone has any thoughts I would love to hear them. This is most noticeable around 25 to 45 mph.

My guess is you need an alignment. My car felt like it was floating from one side to the other with no steering input but a good alignment made track perfect

My guess is the stock Pirelli tires. They like to follow grooves in the road. There's a lane on a local highway here I cant drive the Camaro in cuz it follows this stupid groove in the road and makes me look drunk.

Did you let anyone borrow the car a couple days ago?

Did you have any curb incidents?

I would agree, if nothing changed, and it was fine a couple days ago, and now it's not, then go to an alignment shop, and have them check it, if they see a significant problem with the alignment on one particular wheel as them to take a look and see if there is anything wrong, bent, loose, ect.

We have a couple dealers in your area if you would like a specialist to look at it i can get you the contact info for them .

+1

And it gets worse as they wear. I just put some Conti EC DWS's on mine and it made a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. It doesn't track the grooves anymore. I did go wider all around which i'm sure helped a bit too. 255's on the front and 295's in the rear.

Thats very interesting....we just changed my gf's audi a4 from continental contipro's to dws's and now the car tracks to the right an insane amount. Alignment shops say theres no alignment issues, and this is the 2nd set (discount tire) of DWS's we tried out. Weird that on the camaro you don't see that issue.

I don't know anything about the DWS's but if they were directional tires and one was installed backwards maybe you would see that type of characteristic.

If the car has swaybars or has been lowered you may want to take a quick look at your endlinks

Could be a blown tie rod. Your front toe won't hold if your tie rod(s) are shot.

Stock tires do this on crappy roads. Mine does this all the time, and I have a fresh alignment. The stock tires follow the groves in the road.

On my 1LS, I just took off the stock heritage wheels/tires and put on RS wheels with summer Pirrelli's. It does the same thing now - all over the road. I did an alignment after putting on lowering springs about a month ago, but before the Pirrelli's went on. The roads around here are better than average, too.

I would take a look at the alignment of the car... especially if the condition has gotten significantly worse over the last few days and not the last few months.

Get the alignment checked out by someone either familiar with the Camaro, or familiar with performance cars in general for a proper diagnosis.

My car did this back in April when roads weren't consistently warm, summer came and the tracking went away. Now it's October, tracking came back but luckily I swapped them out for Generals and it rides straight for days.

Conclusion: Summer-Only Pirelli's
