Airbag Light is on!?

I went to the dealer today to Check over my car that came in today, and the service tech told me the airbag light was on. The problem is that GM went to a new computer diag. software for the 2010 models. Has anyone ran into this problem, and\or the fix? any help appreciated.

Someone else had a similar problem on here and GM was supposed to be sending a replacement airbag overnight for the steering wheel. Your dealer should be able to get you fixed up.

yeah about the airbag problems. I've been waiting for my car. Went to pick it up and they had it in shop stating the seatbelt was causing airbag light to kick on. They said GM is flying a rep. In Mon. To work on it and hopefully I'll get to actually pick car up mon. Or tues. I was just wandering if this sounded like the same problem you had. And if you had anymore problems after they fixed it? It's killing me waiting. Still haven't even had a chance to drive it yet! By the way this is 1st time to the site and also it's my 1st ever camaro. Previously owned 2 Corvettes. Always loved Chevy muscle cars! My Father currently has black 69 convertible camaro and orange with white racing stripes 69 Z28! So that's why I also going with same scheme. Inferno metallic orange with white racing stripes. When I get to pick it up I'll try and figure out how to post pictures of them all together.

Hang in there. Good to see they are flying someone in to address it.

Sounds like a good color combo. Good luck and post the pix...

I hate to sound stupid but is the 2LT rs is that same as 2SS rs? cause havent had chance to look at the camaro books. got lucky on mine Havent went through the stress of ordering and waiting on mine. The person who originally ordered it backed out on it. And mine was in the shop no one new it was there and i stopped in to look because I was told they had a yellow 6 speed 2SS with black hockey stripe on it and one of salesmen had went to school with my dad and new me. he said if you like it come down to shop and check it out. mine has the orange and black seats with SS embroidered in orange. it also has the orange inserts on doors and across the dash. it also has the orange ambient lighting. they told me the orange was only one that matched car all other ambient interior lighting was blue. does anyone know if this is true or was that just another sales pitch? Actually he didnt even have to speek cause the minute i saw the car i told him to fill out the paper work i wanted it. Anyone know roughly what the gas mileage average really is? Anything gotta be better than my H2 im trading for the Camaro. Love my Hummer but with high gas prices ive only pu 22k miles on my 2006 Hummer at barely 10 miles to the gallon just dont drive it much. Thanks for anyones input.

Going to CAN (ISO 15765) is not a "problem" it's one of the best moves GM ever did.

The computer is highly integrated as well. You can't just keep using older computers and protocols.

If it said the airbag was wrong it probably was just saving your life. Not broken. KITT needs love too.

My airbag problem light went on today at 850 miles with a DIC message to have airbag serviced . I stopped the car and my wife reconnected her seat belt and the light went out. I will continue to watch for the problem to resurface.

Hum there is a passenger sensor. Maybe it's some kind of indicator that the pass bag is being turned off?

Drove mine again eary this morning and the airbag light has not returned. I hope it stays off as the mechanics at the Chevy dealers in this area suck. I dread taking it to these guys for anything.

They just fixed mine. They said they were having to call all the ones they already sold to fix the airbag problem. It's actually the seatbelt wasn't ingaging if you slammed on the brakes. They fixed mine and had 3 more lined up todo it. Only took few hours they had to run some new program in it

There is a problem with some passenger side airbags and I believe they short out the module. We have just been through this in our shop. Also the logic tree to check the system that is given to the dealers is wrong. It appears the module is bad and if you replace it first the airbag will take out the module again. The dealers need to check with technical assistance on this one and it will speed up the process. You can't have an airbag air overnighted either because of the explosive potential.

Called the service manager at my dealer about the problem. He said it will be a week before he has the program to fix the issue. What ever that means.
