Had the 2SS/RS for a few days now - Review

So I picked up the 2SS/RS on 6/2/2009 and have driven it for a few days now. I am very impressed with what GM has done with the car. Fit and Finish are top notch.

My previous car was my BMW 135i (Twin turbo and pretty light car). I will do some comparisons to that car.

Lets get performance out of the way. Since the car has low miles, I didn't get on it too much and haven't really taken it over 4.5k RPMs. I can't comment on this too much because of that. I will say that the SS reminds me of my 2001 SS in that it pulls very smooth. When you hit the gas pedal, you don't think that you have gained that much MPH, but when you look down, you certainly have. I will post more on this in a later review after I have gotten a chance to loosen the car up some. Steering feel to me feels better than my BMW. My BMW would tend to understeer, to me, the Camaro feels a lot more neutral. Again, I haven't take turns really fast, however, from my inital to / from work routine, it soaks up the turns really good and I was pleased at how the car handled for as much as it weighs.

Fit, Finish, Looks: I would say the fit part is just as good as the BMW. Everything lines up really well (for the most part and I'll cover this at the end of this part). The ambient lighting in the door panels is a very cool touch and it looks really really good! All of the interior and exterior panels fit together very well. The seats are pretty good. I do like the BMW seats a little better as they had a little more adjustment and held me to the seat better, but these seats I better than I expected and I would say the 2nd best seats I have had in any car I have owned. The steering wheel is really on par I think with the BMW 135i. I had the M Steering wheel in it so that is saying a lot. I love the feel of the stock Steering wheel too . Visability is a win for the BMW, but it isn't too bad with the camaro. I have no real gripes for visability as you can adjust mirrors to see pretty good. Things I wish were a little different: I wish that the emergency brake handle would sort of dissappear when down, the plastics on the dash and top part of the doors are hard, but they look good. I do wish they were a little softer though. My only real gripe is the antenna on the top of the car has a small gap. I have heard of another car that had this problem as well but not all cars. I'll be taking it to the dealer so they can take a look and see if any action needs to be taken. As far as looks, this is subjective, but this car is just down right gorgeous !!!!!!!! Nuff said there

All in all, you can tell that GM put a lot of work into the camaro. When you get yours you will be very pleased with the end state! I look forward to putting many miles on the car and doing some modifcations. I can tell this will be one of the funnest cars I have owned!!!

As I get more miles in the car, I'll post more. This weekend I'll get more pictures as well .. For now, here is one that the dealer took:

Patience pays off!

That is an awesome looking car. Gives me hope that mine will come soon! Nice write up.
GM has done an excellent job. It's just 2 bad that they didn't have more bugs worked out before the launch!

Patience is a virtue!

I also wanted to add. In a few of the magazine reviews, I think I saw the following two items:

1.) Peddles spaced far apart and not easy for heel/toe action ... I'm not sure what car they are driving as I don't have a large foot (about a size 10 sneaker) and I can heel / toe just fine.

2.) Exhaust isn't loud enough .. While cruising, this may be the case, not loud at all, however, if you give it some gas, you get rewarded with a nice throaty exhaust tone .. I do plan on eventally changing out to an xpipe and new cat back, but stock sounds pretty good as well
