V6 to V8 question.

Alright so today i had the lucky chance to drive a 13 LS3 with the Dual Mode Exhaust. I have to say it was an amazing car. It drove awesome, had power of course, and the Dual Mode was amazing when you held the shifts.

But heres my question for the people that have traded their V6 in for the V8. Why did you do it? i could of course feel a difference in power with the low end torque the V6 lacks in some cases but not enough of a difference to justify trading in a car that is brand new. (Maybe its because i have a bond with my car since it was my first and also my dream car )

My V6 is a M6 so maybe that makes a difference in the way the car feels. So i guess another question for you guys is when you traded did you switch from a A6 V6 to an SS?

I have driven the L99 also and it felt like the M6 had a lot more power when in reality they are about the same.

Now i don't mean to open a can of worms and have a large fight between the V6 and V8 guys . I just honestly want to know what drove you to change to the SS.

Thanks for answering my question.

Went straight for the V8. I knew if I tried to save money by going with the V6 I would be kicking myself in the @$$ down the road for not spending the extra money and getting the V8.

I traded in a 2011 m6 2lt Camaro for a 2013 Camaro 1SS.

Why I did it.. my car was hit twice in the same spot 2 months apart(hit and run). The quarter panel was cut out both times and replaced.

My trade in was higher than I thought for 2 accidents.

I test drove a automatic Camaro SS. It accerlated just fine and all. I just had to make mine a manual.

Trading for a 13 Camaro 1SS..i did lose my heated seats, leather, hud, back up sensor, the ABL in the doors, gauge cluster down by the stick. I'm content.

I did gain-- more power, the mylink, the dual mode exhaust is music to my ears, better suspension, i like the shifter in this one, the steering wheel is growing on me.

I went from a 2011 A6 LLT VERT to a 2011 M6 SS VERT because it was the car I should have gotten in the first place. As old as I am you think I would have known that I never settle for settling. The SS is more expensive to own across the board.

EDIT: Spending too much time on this site doesn't help either!!

I went from a 2011 camaro LS m6 besides the lovely V8 I got leather seats, seat warmers, bluethooth, boston acoustic stereo. Upgraded tranny and suspension over a v6 so their was other reasons for me.

I traded because i found a good deal. After 2 years of owning the v6 i started itching for more power. i originally wanted to twin turbo the v6 but that was gonna cost me about 6500$. But without even trying to make a trade I found a used ss for 26500. The deal was too good to be true. I went and test drove the v8 and fell in love with the power. I decided to make trade and ended up spending 4k for a down payment.

I actually just traded in my 2010 1lt/RS M6 for a 2SS/RS M6 with dual mode exhaust. For me, it wasn't just the obvious things like the v8 and sound that I wanted, I also was jealous of the better interior(leather) and heads up display. The new touchscreen sound system with backup camera is pretty neat too. So far(400 miles) I am really happy I made the upgrade!

2011 2LT to a 2013 2SS...

The roar of the v8 (i have the duo exhaust mode), the power, the touch screen, breaks, and reverse cam are what did it for me.

The v6's are AWESOME cars... don't get me wrong, but when you start modding them, you start to wish you had the bigger engine. I just ended up spending a lot (no where near the price difference realistically) but still, it started to bug me. And it was no where near the power of the stock v8.

It just turned into a passion of mine so i wanted to start over with the bigger engine

If I had a new V6 Camaro, I would not trade it in for a V8.

But since I wanted the V8 from day 1, that is what we bought.
I'll admit though, I am old school. And to me, Camaro = V8.

My '69 SS had a V8, and I just don't think I would have been happy with anything else.

I might have changed my mind if I would have at least given the V6 a test drive. But I didn't even consider it.

We sold my wifes 1996 Caprice with a LT1 V8 duel exhaust, safety track and all the goodies. After test driving the V6 Camaro we both knew we wanted the SS V8. We aren't hot rodders but like to excelerate and have the power ready and available as we need. We get 25/26 mpg @ 75mph using Shell premium.......how can you beat that?! I love my Hawaii Five-O Camaro.
