2SS/RS CGM for sale - $5000 markup

i was down at Martin Chevrolet yesterday and they had a CGM 2SS/RS with the orange/black interior, black hockey stripes (and fat stripe down the middle), automatic, and sunroof for sale. it was someone's order and they fell into some financial troubles and had to back out.

the only thing is, the MSRP was around $38,000 and they had dealer installed lo-jack (no biggie, i'll probably end up with it myself) for an extra charge and then on the sticker it was written in "added dealer mark-up" $5000. bringing the total to about $46,000.

it's been there for at least a week. i'd be willing to guess they'd knock some of that $5000 off if you were a serious buyer. go see George Tasker. he had a lot of info i was unaware about. plus, he managed to score me a test drive!!!!!!!!

it's bad ass! i'd only sat in one up until yesterday (sat in a red v6). i can't wait until i get mine!!!!! i keep going back and forth on color though. IBM with white rally stripes, SIM with black rally stripes, or Black with white rally stripes.

No markup is acceptable. Thank them for the test drive, then smack the sales manager for being stupid. Let them know that Camaro5 does not tolerate markups.

oh i agree...i will not pay markup on this car. i think it sucks they're doing it. once i saw that i laughed. but i've seen higher markups than that. saw one with $20,000 markup :O

lo jack is a device that tracks your car if it's stolen. if your car is stolen you report it to the police and they have lo jack systems they can track the car and see where it's at. kinda like a homing device i suppose.

GPS tracking device used for theft recovery. it's a very small device hidden somewhere un-noticable that can be GPS tracked.

OnStar works too IF:

- u keep it active
- the battery is hooked up
- thieves haven't removed the brain box

u didn't know that Mr Salesguy? kidding!

oh, the reason i recommend George down there is because he was the first salesman that has been honest with me about this car in the los angeles area. he told me to wait until the next wave of ordering...which will be the actual 2010 model year. right now these are just the pre-orders and what not....to build some hype. he told me that GM wasn't sure what car to come out with first to start building more hype for this car so they had the initial pre-ordering to see what was the most popular order. unfortunately for GM the V6 and V8 were pretty much neck and neck, they didn't have an overwhelming number of one over the other.

he told me to wait until later this year and they'll have more camaros coming in and they would then offer the GM supplier discount on it. they've had 7 in and and this is the first that's sat longer than a day.

he also told me that there is a 4% profit margin on these cars so when you're getting the discounts that's why they're so small.

i asked him about the ordering and asked if it will actually come the way i order it and he told me as long as the salesman doesn't mess up it will. he said that what has happened with the ones that are different is that if the salesman just prints out the sheet for your order and forgets to save it in the computer things can get lost. they take that sheet to the guy that does the ordering and if he misses something on there that's how orders can get messed up. but the salesman is also supposed to double check everything with the customer.

No offense to the camaro (I obviously love them), but it's not worth 42k+, that's getting into Corvette land.
For 45k you could buy a 08-09 Vette EASY.

Lojack...Not sure why a dealer would put that on....OnStar does the same thing...and I bet with a call from the authorities, OnStar would still report he location if stolen, even after the paid subscription is done. The system is still there, and active, just not user usable.

Beats me..I think it was requested by the customer because they had an LT that the owner was having it installed on. I didn't know that about OnStar...never had it before...guess I won't be getting LoJack then.

The original customer probably had to back out when the bank would finance the markup over msrp.

yeah... i dont know about those guys...

i went in to go see the same car, walked out with a smile on my face that i'm paying msrp and nothing more. hell, i'm getting supplier from my dealer.

the 38.5k price tag, plus 5k market adjustment and another 4k for their dealer "upgrades" (the lowjack and something else on there for a grand) left the car at a laughable 47k.

now, had that car been msrp like they told me over the phone, it would be sold right now. i'm interested in seeing how long it's going to take them to sell it.

they say (like most) they want to move the car, but they keep adding these rediculous mark ups and stupid upgrades no one needs or wants. how do they expect to sell the car?
