belt slip

recently put on the innovator west crank pulley with the 9.1" ring adn rotofab intake. (running 100 octane via torco) and no tune. did a few good pulls going to a local meet the over the weekend and got some belt slip around the 5k rpm range. belt is already tight as f@wk could barely get it on when i swapped everything out. is there a way to get a bit more grip on the belt? new to SC's here so bear with me. coming from the turbo crowd

There is a larger idler pulley that wraps more belt around the supercharger pulley to help with belt slip. look here to see what i am talking about http://jreperformanceparts.com/gm/20...ng-design.html

interesting! im using the stock supercharger pulley. i replaced the lower crank pulley. wonder what size belt it would then need if i changed the idler out to the bigger one

Got to be a belt problem.. there is no way with the right belt it slips. Your mod is veru common and actually should have better wrap than stock

I'm stating the obvious, but double check the belt routing as it can be routed more than one way...it is easy to mess up. Make sure you have the correct length belt and the tensioner isn't at the limit. You want it so that you can barely slip the belt on. Take a pic of your belt and pullies so we can see what it looks like.

Welcome to the crappy world of messing with blowers and getting belts to work.

Make sure you didn't get anything on the belt. Any oil/fluid/grease/etc and you need to replace the belt.

Remove the blower pulley and send it to me, I No risk, and I think you would be surprised.

will machine in our "Gator grip" free, send it back and you report on the results.

belt is routed correctly double checked that a few times because thats what i thought at first. and it took 3 people to get the belt on it was so tight, had to max the tensioner out (opening it in) have some one hold it there then i had to have some one else turn the crank while i slid the beltover the idler pulley below the blower pulley (the top blower pulley on the blower itself) barely could get that b!tch over the idler while he was turning it over was a bitch haha.

it only slips when its in 4th or 5th when theres more load on it, its fine in lower gears. it is damp and rainy up here this time of year so i could imagine that may be playing a part?

ill get a pic of the belt tonight when i get home just in case.
