I am getting suspicious of my Dealer

Ok, the only reason I went to this dealer that is 1 hour drive from my house and not to any of the 5 other dealers closer was this dealer assured me and gve me their word that they had 1 allocation left for May that I could have and they would be quicker in getting me my Camaro than any of the other dealers nearby because of it. I believed them and put down a deposit.

Dealer told me my order was entered right away and moved to 3000 quickly. All the while, I have been asking for a copy of the Order Work Bench just to make sure everything is up to par as far as options, etc. etc. and also so that I have an "official copy."
I haven't bought anything from this dealer before so I don't know anything about their practices or reputation. With all the horror stories regarding dealers with shady practices, I am starting to have some concerns about the truthfulness of where my order actualy is at this point. Whether they actually had an allocation and my order actually is at 3000. Or my order is just sitting there waiting for their next allocation.

I think I am just being paranoid from reading too much dealer bashing here. and too anxious to get my Camaro already!

ORDER # NKJZ57

all ya need. ur dealer printing you the workbench is pointless. there are threads on this site like "check your order" that u need to go post that order # in.

then check back frequently. there are a few awesome sponsors here that are dealers that will pop in there and check some orders when they have time.

they can't look up anything but the workbench event codes. but that will confirm what ur dealers saying or prove them liars!

as far as emailing u workbench updates........they may not be pc savy. my guy at Buff Whelan emailed me a "screenshot" of my workbench everytime it changed.

good luck!

Just call your dealership's main number on Tuesday and ask to speak with the Inventory Manager. On a Tuesday, he's more likely to be in the system anyhow and should be able to confirm your current event status code. If he's nice, like mine, he'll even print out the event history to a PDF file and email it to you.

Thanks.

Want a copy of the Work Bench print-out mainly for documentation purposes. Like a birth certificate for the car so to speak along with all things related to this order. Yep, you are right about potentially not being computer savvy. My wife has posted my order number here last week for someone to check, I will try to find that.

Thanks again.

when i took delivery of 7553, i had the dealer print the entire completed workbench which showed every date, event code change including the date ordered.................great documentation to have, but getting it now won't show you everything.

also get a copy printed of ur build sheet. there should be one in the car when u get it, but if the detail guys clean it up they'll likely toss it. this will give u a print out of every single code involved in ur order!

good luck!

Dishonesty about your order's status is unusual (although the tracking system's been known to be a little unreliable). Usually what you have to watch out for is sudden changes in price once the car arrives. Have you got an exact dollar amount in writing with a signature?

Also, keep in mind that what you see here on this site is a collection of the worst experiences of buyers across the nation, all concentrated together. It only SEEMS like all the dealers are out to get you, when they're usually not (unless you live in southern Florida).

I was given a print out of the agreed on pricing quote which I had to sign. I am already paying over MSRP but dealer agreed to paint and install the GFX that other dealers were gonna charge me extra to paint body color. At the time, I thought I was getting robbed by paying over MSRP but after calling around last week, almost every dealer I have spoken to in SoCal is doing the "market adjustment" thing these days and that makes me feel like I am actually getting a nice deal.

Painting the GFX is worth a few hundred bucks (I think I've heard people say as high as $500?). I hope they didn't talk you into doing several thousand over MSRP.

Did anybody catch his signature with the order number? NKJZ$% ??? I've never seen a $ or % in an order number. Is that a typo?
