POLISHED ALUMINUM v. MIDNIGHT SILVER

I'm ordering a 2SS with RS package this week and was told by dealer that you can indeed swap the Midnight Silver RS wheels for polished aluminum wheels (both are 20 inch). Getting black on black for the 2SS and thinking that polished aluminum wheels would look even better/more striking than the darker Midnight Silver wheels. Any opinions out there especially from someone who has made a similar decision? Are the polished aluminum wheels more scratch prone in any way as compared to the painted rims? Would appreciate any feedback on this - thanks!!

ok i had this too and got the black 1ss black with rs. I got polished because its going pop more with black. Somebody said the polished comes with a protective film now. I did see midnight silver on a red camaro the other day and thought that it would like nice with black too. But to me I dont know about a painted rim, so i went with polished.

i have seen both in person and i really dont think you can go wrong either way. i was going to upgrade to the polished rims but i like the rims that are on the convertable concept so with my iom car i think i am gonna look to get a set of those rims next year.

I opted for the polished rims, just a personal prefrence! Both are very durable so I do not think that would be a issue with either. Remember the polished wheels are a $400+ option! Cant go wrong with either just matters which you like the most!!

I think B on B would look stunning and with Polished will just look drop dead G!!

I have seen the midnights and they are awesome but with lighter colour cars they dont stand out but with black they will stand out so you may get away with it. However I too went with the polished A's as Im getting silver. It needs to be polished for silver else the wheels look faded.

Anyway, I think the polished will be betterat resistance to chipping and scratching as opposed to the painted. COrrect me if I amm wrong anyone!

remember, the polished are clear-coated. so there's no making them shine more! i'm waiting for someone to chrome these.

1 vote here for polished......

Supersport 2010 - ordered mine with polished (2SS/RS SIM LS3), I assume they are clear coated - anyone know about this?

Also, the cost of the RS package is mostly the MS rims I assume ( there is not a lot else to support the cost..) so are we to pay for the upgrade to MS rims and then pay for polished over and above that? My dealer did not know when I ordered - just that this option "became available". If anyone know, pls advise

Thanks

Yes, Dinger, after GM saw the high demand for the polished aluminums with the RS package, they made them available in late '08. The $1200 RS package cost is mostly the HID headlights w/halos. Can't see midnight silver paint costing anymore the sterling silver, so I really doubt that's part of the cost.
The polished aluminums are a $470 option, and I chose them over the MS because something about a painted wheel erks me, and the pop of a near chrome look will rock on a black car! And yes, the polished are clearcoated.
