Smile Ordering a new Camaro?

For all of those who have not yet ordered a new Camaro and plan on doing so I thought it would be nice to start a thread or checklist of things a buyer can do to minimize the chance they will be screwed by the dealer after ordering. My suggestions are as follows.

1. Offer no more than MSRP
2. Get it in writing on a purchase agreement signed by you and the sales manager.
3. Make sure it specifically states MSRP as sales price with the only additions
being tax, lisc, and transfer and documentation fees. [ If you can make them list the transfer and documentation fees as they already know what they are].
4. Make sure it says no other dealer installed options
5. Make sure it says no other dealer charges.
6. Put 500.00 to 1000.00 down on the car
This may sound like a lot but you can/should hand write all of this in the available space on the purchase agreement. Before you sign it.
A dealer order form may not be good enough.

If they give you a hard time it's the first indication of possible trouble ahead.
If there are other charges like dealer prep etc make them tell you about them now so you can agree to them [or not] up front.

A reputable dealer who intends on selling you the car at MSRP without a whole bunch of last minute extras will not hesitate to sign an agreement with the above listed on it. I do this when I am making an offer on a new car even when I'm not ordering it.

look for extended warratny as well, not that this is a bad option but they might throw that it in. I wouldnt buy it personally, but some might like it
