Leather stitching question

I heard some people use a permanent marker to color their stitching?
I want mine to be red so do I basically color each stitch with a permanent marker?

NOT a permanent marker, but a fabric dye pen. Can be bought at any craft store. It is a tedious mod but well worth the end result.

Joann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Michaels and some Walmarts do. I assume you have leather, cloth for cloth seats the job is harder, I hear. Much easier with leather.
Just get the dye flowing in the pen and work a one foot section at a time, running the pen back and forth. Have a rag and some windex handy and just wipe down the excess. The dye finds the thread in the stitching quick.

The only down side with the green is that it fades over time. But, the redo goes really really fast and is back to looking awesome. I touch mine up about every 6 months-ish. And it doesnt affect the leather. I used just plain tap water and a blue shop towel to go behind and clean up the excess. Just don't go too far ahead of yourself. A foot section is best.

It probably would if left on there for an extended time. Just work in small sections and wipe as you go, the windex helps.
After you're done go back with some conditioner on the leather, just to offset any negatives from the windex.
Buy at least 4 pens and plan on spending 2+ hours.
Results may vary

Ok thanks guys. So the reason you guys do little by little is to wipe the excess? Or is it to do multiple coats at a time?

A little bit of both, use the pen like your sketching on the stitching. Overlapping strokes 3-4 inches at a time.

You will see once you start. It's quite a bit of back and forth, but the threads soak it up quick. But definately buy atleast 3-4! I burnt through two and coulda used a third on mine.
