Recommended OBD2 tool?
Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend an OBD2 scanner that would work with my 2000 V6? The main thing I'm after is good display of diagnostic codes. I'd prefer some type of system that either plugs into a laptop or iPad/iPhone and has good software over a stand alone device. Thanks for any help, FW |

Just buy a bluetooth or wifi(iOS) odb2 dongle and use the free torque app.

I use a program called "OBDwiz" by a company by the name of scan tool ( www.scantool.net ) along with their "OBDlink" product to interface with the car. It plugs in to my laptop via USB. I also bought the GM add-on for more parameters to monitor. But just that basic software alone can read stored and pending codes along with about 80 parameters (though the base software is missing oil temp and oil pressure and trans temp, which isn't a problem in the camaro cause I have to cluster pack but in the equinox it was a problem...hence GM add on.) you can check it out at the website above.
Sent from my bragging iPhone using an app that encourages it. |

He said iPhone/Ipad Torque is only for Android. I have to use Dashcommand on the iPhone. |

How dies that work for the iPhone? Do you need to buy any other cables or does it work via Bluetooth?

Got one of these (and some other goodies) for X-mas. For only about $70 it reads/displays about 40 parameters as well as any/all CEL codes and gives you the ability to clear them also. Plugs into the OBDII port. Great little unit.

Works good, I use it to data log. You will need a wifi obd2 and the Dashcommand app. Apps not cheap but it works. If your phone is jailbroke you can use a Bluetooth obd2. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dash...321293183?mt=8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-WiFi-...c0da0d&vxp=mtr http://www.palmerperformance.com/ |
