JBA mide pipe 1812SYC
Okay I am getting ready to order my first mods.
1. rotofab intake 2. SCT tuner (got a 90MM TB for christmas) 3. need something to wake the exhaust up I was thinking about this JBA midpipe because seem like people pick up about 20hp with no boost loss. $389. other option would be the stainless power or texas speed headers for about $800 which is kind of out of my budget and I am not buying pullies right now. or I could do a catback but there is not much HP there so seems like a waste of money. anyone think I am screwing up by not just going longtubes? does anybody have an date from just longtubes without any other mods to see what the net gain is?

I was talking to a GM powertrain development engineer that was working on the ZL1 program at the time, while I was at work one day, and he said that the stock cats used on the ZL1 (needed to fit under the Camaro chassis) are much more restrictive than the ones used on the CTS-V. He showed me some backpressure data on his laptop, it was significant. I would think simply eliminating the cats and turning off the rear O2's (keeping rest of exhaust stock) should give a noticable difference in performance.
Does anybody know if the JBA mid-pipes (cat delete) will fit under the ZL1 without modification? I know they do on the SS, but I don't know if the belly pan needs to be trimmed on the ZL1 to fit or not. Also, with cats deleted, once the muffler flaps open up, you are basically running straight pipe exhaust, it might be a bit loud for some! Well now I am confilicted. Ted just told me they get like 12hp and I should just roll longtubes.
I feel like a chick with this car I just can't make my mind up on mods for some reason. he had a good point making more power at lower boost levels is not really a bad thing.

The JBA mids make 20rwhp on an N/A 6.2L car so 12RWHP does not sound right for a ZL1. You will lose boost right now without headers with the addition of HIGH flow mids. On the 2013 ZL1 we have seen 30rwhp with a tune over the factory cats at the shop I go to with factory manifolds installed.

It looks like such a simple mod and worth a decent hp jump for $450...I just ordered the catted mid pipe. Now, I need to install the ID850's I just ordered with this mid pipe and get a retune.

So 3 budget options it looks like
1. stainless power (look fairly good) $699 off road $899 catted (maryland speed has $799 sale.) 2. texas speed (can get 2" primaries) no merge spikes $769 catted 3. JBA can be cermic coated to keep heat down ~1k catted $800 off road

Juiced has them for 389 shipped. that is what keeps pulling me back this way simple. My wife is mod blocking me. I could do this so fast and easy.

My feeling is that changing this mid pipe (like people said above) is worth 25-30hp. I know the long tubes are better but not worth the price jump for 10ish more hp at this point in my modding. If I had heads and cam, then I would surely go with long tubes. Getting into the 10.90 range with all bolt ons is my goal and I'm almost there. Not much needed to push me faster than 11.03.

has anyone verifed on a dyno a mid-pipe install? I like the idea of them seems simple and with less restrictive cats this should make power. My goal is with some bolt on stuff like cai, ported blower snout, tb, pullys etc. make 600-625 hwhp. I would love some raw dyno data.
