Insurance rate German car vs. American car

i currently am driving an 06 VW GTI. i am 23 and im paying about $235 a month for insurance (Geico). i have a clean record right now but i totaled my last car and have had speed tickets in the past...however nothing is shown on my record. my friend also had a GTI and he switched to a LS2 Vette recently. hes 3 yrs. older than me and hes telling me his insurance rate went down afte he switched from the GTI to a Vette. now the only way i see this possible is the GTI is German and the Vette is american which makes the parts cheaper. does anyone have any idea if this is legit if i want to switch to a Camaro SS or a Vette?

thanks

Tickets stay on your record for 3 years in most states.

The total is also making your record look pretty bad if it was your fault.

Best case, who knows. Call your agent.

The reason the Vette is cheaper is because there arent very many claims on them. Plus the demographic that drives them is much older than the guys who drive a Camaro or other sports cars.

Don't know if this helps...Insurance is usually way too complicated to predict, but we have a Vette and a 3 series BMW (similar years) and they are about the same to insure. Both are rated for pleasure and go on winter storage (same premium there too). No accidents or tickets .

replacing the front grille (rolled into my bro's truck) sub 5mph. did 800 in parts damage (ordering the parts myself, to avoid markup)... each chrome grille fin is its own piece..
school bus backed over the front left corner- no mechanical damage or any suspension damage- only body work and a new headlight: 4,700
