Corsa Catback Install

I purchased my 2012 2SS 45th in November and I’ve been lurking on this forum ever since. I’ve gain a tremendous amount of knowledge from the members here and I thought it was time I contribute.

I just thought I’d share my thoughts on the Corsa catback exhaust system, part number 14952 I installed on my 2012 2SS L99. After searching the internet and listening sound clips of all the different catback exhausts system I selected the Corsa system. Installation was straight forward and there were no issues with alignment and all the pieces fit together precisely.

For those of you unfamiliar with installing catback exhaust systems it’s pretty straight forward. If you have access to a lift it would make the task a lot easier, but if you’re like me, I did mine in my garage with the car on jack stands or I should say multiple jack stands, I’m a safety freak.

The stock exhaust system comes out in one long assembly. Following the installation instructions the Corsa system goes together in multiple sections, which makes installation easy. All pipe joints are connected with clamps and tightened using a torque wrench to 45 ft. lbs. Total time for the installation was about 2 hours.

I really like the tone and it’s not as loud as I thought it would be. I didn’t want a really aggressive sound, that’s why I went with the Corsa and after driving the car for a couple weeks I’m completely satisfied with the results. Wide open throttle does sound really good, not too loud, but just right and there is absolutely no drone at cruse. Long tube headers and high flow cats are on the horizon and this will definitely increase the sound. I would recommend the Corsa system to anybody looking for a fuller tone with a bit more volume.

I have one question, is it me or do these catback systems go through a break in period, it seems that after a couple weeks of driving, the tone and volume seem a bit deeper and louder?

Well, I hope this write-up helps anyone looking in to installing a catback system. I enjoyed installing the system and the results I gained.

Welcome to the forum. And yes Corsa is quality. Lt's and hf cats will make it scream. Are you tuned? The tone does change a little after a couple of weeks of driving. I did notice that and I think others have said that also.
P.S. You can edit your post to delete the double write up.

I had a real issue when AFM kicked in, hated the sound it produced so i pulled it off. Does it not bother you or have you gotten used to it? If so has it gotten better or worse over the past couple of weeks?

Also I am curious did you pull the rear facia off when removing the stock system or was there enough clearance without taking it off.

I'm asking because when I originally put it on I had access to a lift, if I decide to put it back on I will do the same as you, jack stands in the garage.

No, I'm not tuned, I'm waiting for my warranty to expire and then all bets are off I'm getting a tune!
And thanks for the double editing catch, I can't believe I missed that.

Yes, the AFM is annoying! It seems to me the Corsa system only amplifies the AFM a little louder than the stock system. I've read that other exhaust systems really amplify the AFM. I guess it depends on how aggressive your exhaust system is. This system's sound is not very aggressive. I don't know if I can wait until the warranty runs out, I'm at 11K, I may give in at around 20K and have it tuned out, we'll just have to see how long I can stand it.

According to Corsa's installation instructions, you remove 7 screws along the bottom of the facia which allows it to be pull away far enough to clear the stock muffler tips. It worked well enough.

Thanks, I'm glad it just wasn't me. I put the Corsa on and took it off in 5 miles because of AFM. I was thinking to give it another chance but I'm certain it will drive me nuts. I have made a decision not to tune my car, I have a post about that going so tuning is out of the question.

Did you notice AFM getting any worse after the couple is weeks of having the Corsa on or do you find yourself getting used to it at all?

I've noticed the tone and volume have increased slightly and that would include the AFM. I'm getting use to the AFM, it bugs me, but I like the exhaust system more so I will put up with it until my warranty expires and then I'll have it tuned out along with other performance enhancements.

You do know that the warranty that a tune affects is the powertrain, 5 years/ 100k miles.

Yes I did, my goal is to get past the 3 year/ 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. After that I'm not concerned as I'm not going to doing any extreme mods such as cams or supercharging, just a mild tune and turn off the ADM.

Sounds like a good plan. I bet you don't make it that long.

Why? Tuning your car will only void your powertrain, not your bumper to bumper. That remains intact.

There are several good threads that address the topic of tuning and voiding your warranty. As soon as you flash the ECM with a tune you can pretty much say goodby to any warranty concerning the powertrain.

Correct but you said your concerned about your bumper to bumper, these are 2 different things.

Your powertrain is 5/100
Your b2b is 3/36

Wether you tune now or after your 3/36 you'll lose your powertrain. But if you tune now, your b2b stays in tack.

So I guess I'm confused. Seems your not concerned about your powertrain as you are willing to tine before that is up, so why not tune now?
