Gt500 fails to hit 200mph

Here is the link.

Caranddriver tested it out. It could not hit its top speed of 202 mph. Stopped at 190mph.

So fords a bunch of liars.

196 MPH is 315 KM/H
202 MPH is 330 KM/H

Also that article says 200 MPH which is 321 KM/H.

Like it even matters, Ford tested at Nardo where they would have had more than enough room to reach 202 MPH, and who the **** is even travelling at those speeds. Certainly no one in North America (Legally)…

It would be, Randy Pobst even said he felt it would make it under the right conditions. It's not like reaching 202 MPH is an easy task...

Both Motor Trend and Car & Driver couldn't hit 200 but I think it's still possible. I don't think Ford would lie. It's actually easy to determine the top speed of a car without driving it. Body aerodynamics, RPM in 6th gear, horsepower, and 6th gear/rear end ratios will give you an idea of a vehicle's top speed. 200 MPH seems possible when considering all these specs on the GT500.
One thing is for sure though....99.9% of us will never have access to a strip of land that would be necessary for the GT500 to hit 200.

It's gonna take a whole lot longer than 2 miles to reach 202 Miles per hour (at 120 MPH you'll get from one side to the other in a minute).

They hit the 195 at 5 am when it was a lot cooler...

Still finding it hard to believe that it will hit 202 in a reasonable distance. and im calling a 3 mile straight way reasonable.

3 Miles is reasonable? At 190 MPH you are going about 3.16 miles per minute, at 196 you are going 3.3 miles per minute. It's going to take about 15 - 20 Miles if not more to reach 202 Miles per hour.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nardò_Ring

The Nardò Ring is 7.8 Miles long but in a circle so it's a continuous 7.8 Miles. We don't know if it took Ford 5, 10, 20 or 50 Laps around the Nardò Ring before they reached 202 MPH.

The neutral speed for the four car/motorcycle lanes are respectively:
Lane 1 - 100 km/h (62 mph)
Lane 2 - 140 km/h (87 mph)
Lane 3 - 190 km/h (118 mph)
Lane 4 - 240 km/h (149 mph)

In the process of fighting a turn as needed when going faster than the neutral speed quite a bit of potential top speed is lost and hence a fast car will go faster in a straight line than what is possible on the Nardó Ring. Even at the neutral speed, in a banked turn a car runs a bit heavier than it would in a straight line, since the downforce created by the banking increases the rolling resistance on the tires.
