Cruise rocker knob cover wore out

Here is a pic of my cruise knob on the steering wheel. There used to be a rubber cover on it for friction. Now it is slick plastic.

Is there a replacement? Is it hard to replace?

Hmm... I always wondered how fragile those buttons were. I would just find a piece of black rubber and good adhesive for the long run since I hate the normal button's plastic feel.

I bet you can buy that little knob instead of ghettoizing it.

That was after 120K miles of constantly using cruise control. This will start to happen to other people as they catch up to my amount of usage..... and then someone will find out the part # or write a DIY.

Well, if you want to stay stock, that button only comes as part of the overall button kit for $29: http://store.gmpartshouse.com/parts/...iagram=CD10365

I'm pretty sure all you have to do it remove the air bag, to give you more slack and room to work and just remove the steering wheel trim ring, replace the button assembly, reinstall with no programming required. Its a cheap part, don't butcher up a 30 some dollar part in a 40 thousand dollar car.
