Performace Chips??

I was wondering what people's take on performace chips were. The increase HP and torque is nice but there are too many stories of engine troubles bc of these chips. I wanted to know what ya'lls thoughts were about it and if you would purchase one for your car.

Our cars don't use "chips." You would tune it.

"Chips" are hocus pocus. If you want to improve performance you need to get a tune.

There really is no such thing as a "chip" for these cars. There are tunes for them though, where you hook up a device, or a laptop with the required software and tune for the car, and you connect them with a cable via the OBD-II port.

There are three tunes available current for the LLT: IPF, Trifecta, and Hypertech.

Each are a little different, and their prices are different as well. Trifecta is the most widely used tune b/c it was the first on the scene and isn't overly expensive. Hypertech is a decent option as well and isn't expensive, but a bit more of a "canned" tune you could say. IPF is the newest option, seem to have a lot of experience with this type of ECM (the Bosch ECM that the LLT engine has) , and have shown good results, but are also the most expensive.

"chips" are minimal power adders of the past.....out with the old...in with the new!
