2011 Camaro LS issues
I wanted to post and get some input if anyone else has run into these issues or what the best plan of action would be.
1. I like in upstate Ny and for the past 2 weeks now that its gotten cold (Below freezing -5 this am) I have noticed when I push in the clutch and fire up the engine upon releasing the clutch it makes a grinding noise. 2. Display on the radio did not work yesterday, it was completely blank with just a odd cloudy blue glow. I have often notices lines and odd markings but today it was completely not working. Is this because its cold out or due to a faulty radio ??? 3. Engine oil, Last week was my first oil change. Took it to Jiffy lube, after the tech was bull shitting with me about how fast it goes and crap he goes ok what oil do you want. I said give me just an average oil. I don't want anything super high end I'm not racing it. When I dropped off my car today they asked what oil I used and they mentioned it must be dexos approved and a semi synthetic or full. Well its not I called Jiffy lube and they said nope says right here you declined to get that oil. Why would I decline oil that voids my warrenty and could damage my $25k car ???? After bitching they are going to swap it out tonight for free but do I have to worry about my warrenty now ? IF the grinding noise turns out to be an engine issue am I screwed ???? Please let me know your thoughts from experience. |

These displays can seize up if it is super cold. Before I had a house with a garage I saw it happen once or twice on super cold days. I saw someone post that there was a TSB out for it and that maybe a deal would fix it I guess, but I don't know what they could really do unless there is a new designed face for it. If it continues to not work permanently then definitely take it in, but once it warms up shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah, the LS needs Dexos approved oil, if they just swapped it out I wouldn't worry about it. Its not going to kill your engine, especially that short of a time and no one will ever know anyway haha. Just FYI, there is a website of specific brands: http://www.gmdexos.com/licensedbrands.html

yeah lol, hopefully not its been in there a week. I still have the reciept sitting on my passanger seat becasue I got the upgraded car wash with it and still havn't used it. Hopefully the dealership doesn't spot it. Combo of the 2 issues above, also a loud blower fan and over the fall my gas gauge stopped working for a full day when I was on a road trip I decided to bring it in. I'm sure the radio since its working today they will not even look at, same with the gas gauge issue unless there is a code still on the computer. The grinding noise I just hope isn't the engine because of it having the regualar oil in it right now they would most likey give me a hard time with any engine issue.
Also my issue with the radio is my wife has a 2010 rs, and hers even when its been -7 like this morning has had no radio issue. |

My thought is this: why are you taking your car to jiffy lube?

Where in upstate are you?? And don't go to jiffy lube. Do it yourself. It's very easy to do.
