Has Chevy addressed the loose shift knob issue?

My SS M6 still has the stock shifter in it. Picked the car up (used) this past weekend, noticed the shifter knob has some serious twisting play in it (not to be confused with shift gate play). I know it's splined, and have tried pushing down on the knob, or even hitting it to try and seat it to no avail. I'm hoping it's not becoming separated from the bushing. That could be fun on the 2-3 powershift.

A google search shows very little on this issue, mostly from this board. I don't want to put a Hurst in it yet, frankly because I don't have access to a lift and the stock shifter is adaquete (sp?) for me at the moment.

I have a family friend who is a Chebbie service advisor, but before I go to him, I'm wondering if this is a problem that later service bulletins have addressed?

There is no service bulletin about this currently.

If it is still in the 5year 100k powertrain warranty, it should be covered. Take it to your local dealer. I'm sure they can help you out.
