As long as you're driving normal, no worries.

How many miles you got if less than a 1000 avoid using cruise control vary your rpms

Should be OK. Just read the manual. It tells you the Break-In procedures. For the first 1500 miles vary the RPM's but do not go over 4000 RPM. Sometimes that is hard to do though.

You'll be fine for a long trip, but if you are under 1000 miles then I would take scenic roads(easier to vary your speed plus you go through smaller towns) to ensure proper break-in for the engine parts.

Do big rigs baby their truck for 1000 miles before hauling a load or driving cross country? Hell no.
Do they avoid using cruise control? Hell no. Yes they too have cruise control.
Do they still develop the power they were intended to? Hell yes.
Do they run well over 250K miles without using oil? Hell yes.

This whole break in issue is STILL 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Considering how many thousand times the crank turns and the pistons go up and down every minute, with today's modern engine builds, it is not the issue it used to be.

I don't see why it would be bad, Number 3 did it with no problems.

I hope it's not bad...picked up my 2LT/RS in MI on Thur and drive it to OK today. Made plenty of side trips to vary roads...stopped and saw some friends in cities, construction, etc. runs like a champ and don't expect any issues. Ordered a Z24 back in the day, drove from ST Louis to MI to CO to FL...5000 miles in 2 weeks. Put 200,000 miles on her and was still running like a champ when I traded it in.

I will be doing a 400 mile round trip along the Oregon coast if I have time, then driving mine 1200 miles to Wyoming. I'm not concerned at all. I will have at least 500 miles before even having the opportunity of using cruise if it really matters.

Probably actually easier on the car than driving it around town.

Stay off the cruise, use your foot, keep the Rpm moving up and down a bit.

Biggest problem you will have is the looky looes craning their necks around to have a look and swerving into your lane.

Just try to let it cool a couple or three times. Did you plan on doing it all in one day of driving?
