Whats my car worth, 1997 Coupe (Engine Bearings gone)
Hello All,
My 1997 Camaro would not start Friday, After replacing the starter and testing the battery the Car would still not start. I drained the oil ban looking for debri in the the fluid only to find gasoline coming out. From what I can determine I had been running the car for 1-2 weeks with gas in the engine from the fuel injection flooding (staying open) and stripped out my engine bearings...... I cannot even turn the engine manually with a wrench, it is locked completely. My only hope now is to get some money for it.... I have no idea what it is worth though. Here are the specs: 1997 Silver Camaro V6 3800CC Engine (My guess is stripped bearings from gas in oil, will not turn over, gets stuck) 105,000 Miles Silver Exterior: Good Condition (Minor Paint scratches) Black/Grey Interior (Great condition) Second Owner (I only put 3,000 miles on the car) CD Player Automatic Trans (Appears to be fine, Tried manually turning the engine with the Trans in Neutral and the engine still would not turn, so it appears not to be the trans) A/C (Works Great) PS,PW,Power Lock, Remote Access Disc Brakes in front Drum Brakes in back Dash inset has crack in it. (looked up part, replace for $280) Car garaged for most of its life Pretty much a stock 1997 Coupe that needs a new engine. Any Help would be great, I need the money to get another car.... Let me know if I have posted this in the wrong place. Below is a image. I will miss this car.... ![]() http://02be751.netsolhost.com/My_Cam...ne_Problem.jpg

your pic doesnt work.
But id say its worth about $7k with a good motor. So... minus 4k? eek! Just drop an LS1 in there and keep it

Depends on where you are at. Around here a good looking and good running V6 will get you a max of $5k so with the engine a goner you might only get $2k out of it.

I agree maybe 2 grand. Sorry man.
Maybe you can get a cash for clunkers voucher. Otherwise get that add out and start a bit higher and see if anyone bites then go lower. Or get a trade in value for it and be done with it. |
