R6P Wait Question?

I see a lot of posts that state that R6P folks have been waiting FOREVER for their cars.

I'm just curious... when did GM state that the cars would start to be produced/shipped for the R6P folks?

Were the R6P folks told that when they ordered in October, they would have their car by December? Just wondering where all the complaining about wait times comes from.

I don't mean to disrespect any of the folks who are still waiting on their cars, but it makes me wonder why every single post someone replies to about wait times, it's always the same line "R6P folks have been waiting since October!!!"

I'll chime in with my thoughts.
Production was to beging 2/16/09
All pre orders were to be completed by Q3 or September 30th 2009
My bitch is that there are people who just ordered a month or 2 ago and have their cars. You won't hear my crying, but it just isnt right!

Personally for me, I was hoping to get my car sooner vs. later. Meaning, I thought our R6P orders would get processed in front of other orders. Almost like "First in....First out". Plus I had VERY high hopes to get an extremly low VIN number. Like a 3 or 4 digit # would have been very cool.

In my case, I had a problem with my dealership - Not GM. And that's why my R6P order is still sitting at 1100. If I didn't have this problem, I would be extremly close in getting my car....Or I should have already already got it by now. Knowing that, yes, it's EXTREMLY fustrating. Each time I think about it, I get very upset. Because I know my order was a 'R6P pre-order' and I still have not moved 1 inch since Feb 03. It's a kick in my 5 hole (for those hockey fans).

I hope my order will get processed soon. And I have a feeling it will, thanks to a special person. If my order gets pulled soon, I'm looking at a 6 month waiting time. (Feb - Aug) And I know things will change once I take delivery. 6 months will seem like nothing. I can't wait to get behind the wheel !

Bottom line, I'm very happy for my fellow brothers and sisters that have already got their cars. We are all a part of something special. Let's enjoy it.

It's not that we waited long, it's just that the whole process has been shrouded in mystery and suprises. And as stated above, the most loyal customers cars weren't built first. And yes you did post this to disrespect!

B]I think it is very amusing that people just don't get it. I ordered before there was even 1000 sold orders in the system.[/B]

UPDATE....My Dealer had allocations!

Allocation process is a joke...dealers over ordering etc.( and still getting them out of allocation not to mention Avis etc)

Never saw a car, never, sat in one..all the options were even available nor did we know what they would be....Only so GM could get a sample of what they were going to need to produce.

Get an eye on demand so to speak. Nothing wrong with that . Good Buisness practice, but Once you start building don't forget about those of us that helped get the ball rolling.

With out the pre orders Who Knows...GM Might not ever have gotten the camaro off the ground. Believe me folks it was a close call.

so far over 18000 cars built.....peolple still waiting that Ordered in OCt of 08

Whats not to understand.

Would anyone be a little ticked if they had been waiting in line for a week for concert tickets to go on sale so they could get the best seats and than just before the show
about 15000 people were allowed to buy there seats and enter before them.

It would be a Blood bath....Just sayin!

it's because we have been, if you pre-order a car then when the system prints out an order number they should be built in the order they are received.

[COLOR="Red"]I agree if you ordered your car a in Oct your car should be built first. But that's not how it work it all goes by dealer allocation. If they didn't get the allocation the order will just sit there until they get it. They know they are going to get the car built but when is the question?? Get off the disrespect BS I don't think he meant it that way.

Its about dealer allocation. Your dealer should have known that and explained that to you. Although I do somewhat agree about first in and first out. But from a GM prospective they had to spread the wealth. But you should probably fault the dealer first on not being educated about their allocations. There was a guy on here the other day complaining about it and it ended up that his dealer only had one allocation. Although Gm maybe didnt expect as many preorders as they got, and starting up any new line is going to take time and is going to have bugs in it. There was also a lot of low VINS held up at QC which were realeased in the last week or so, and it seems some people are getting them

My thoughts (and I'm sure this is going to piss someone off, so I'm sorry in advance)... ALL R6P orders have been waiting since MARCH 16th, regardless of when you pre-ordered. When people ordered in October, they knew their car would not even begin to be produced for at least 4-5 months. So people saying "I've been waiting 7 months!" is getting pretty annoying. As of today, everybody who pre-ordered has been waiting 3 months. Period.

And to answer the OP's question... GM said all R6P orders would be produced by Q3 2009. So all pre-orders should be filled by September/October. It was later stated that it's moving along faster than expected, and July was the new estimate.

I'd say they're on track

EDIT: FYI, I am also of the belief that it should be first-come first-serve. Meaning, October orders should've been produced before March orders, etc. But I don't know the specifics of the allocation system and how it works, so I'll just leave it at that.

The car I ended up buying last week was a R6P order and we are the first to have one in town.

Your Right Three Months....Three Months Longer than every one else. That is the point. Regardless of the number of days I still stick to my Concert Example....I am sure you guys would be the first to start throwing punches if we jumped in front of you at the ticket counter no matter how long you had been waiting.

It is the only system that I am aware of... that people actually put up with this bull.

How long would you keep going to anyplace if they kept lettiong other people in front of you ....again no matter how long you have been waiting. Just not right. JMHO

I agree with you 100%. My only point was that the people complaining about the "7 month wait" are stretching it too far... it's been 3 months since production started.

Like I said, I don't understand the way their whole allocation system worked, and why it is the way it is. Logically, first to order should be first to receive. Imagine having this sort of a system at a busy restaurant! It would be CHAOS when people started noticing!

Understood....But when you are waiting for something that evreyone else is getting when you commited to it much earlier...It kinda bends that time line if you know what I mean.( Seems like years....)

Don't get me wrong....I understand there will be circumstances like... people not taking the cars they ordered etc... that will make some cars available to the public before someone who waited can get theres. Can't do nothin bout that.

There are a few, However, That are playing the system to our disadvantage.

Whether we wait days , months ,years ....seems forever !
