HI all 1st post noob
Im about to pull the trigger on a auto convertible and my options are big dealerships with 2012 1or 2LT mileage 8k-30k at roughly $25k-26k but a small hole in the wall dealership has a 2011 2SS with 27k miles for $27 which should i go with i have heard about the issues with 1st gen convertible tops, big dealers have good warranty's, i can pick a color with the (2LT) or 1LT,and i can trust big dealer more than small. If someone can check vin for problems or constant repair i would greatly appreciate it. I dont mind going a little faster PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE thanks Last edited by REDDNOZE; 02-25-2013 at 06:18 AM. |

The warranty doesn't depend on the size of the dealership...the service may. I'd say get the SS. You can take it to any Chevy dealership under warranty. Besides fuel economy (which isn't an issue for you) I have never heard anyone say they wished they'd gotten an LT over their SS. I have however seen tons of "Just Traded Up To An SS" threads on this forum. I'm a little in the same boat. Bought an SS...wished I'd gotten the ZL1. GO FOR THE SS!

The warranty is 3/36,000 Bumper to Bumper, 5/100,000 powertrain from date of orig. purchase. If that's the issue, buy new. It's always some downside to buying a used car.

I say get an SS, skip the vert. You got so much money and credit. Get an good SS hard top. Take your time and shop around. SS all the way. Do it now so you won't wish you did later.

Unless you are 100% sure you don't mind the v6 then go for the SS.

Well if you are serious on the ss why don't you see if you can take it to a chevy dealership and get it inspected. Just tell your dealer you want to know if anything's been done to it to void the warranty and ask to see if the car has got any tunes or any programming done to it that would black list you. Also sweeten the deal for him, tell him if the car checks out okay that you'll buy it.

He can't spend much more, he does not have much credit, He's got 15K. He ask for help in his decision. I suggest he not get a vert and just get a good SS. JMO. You don't like my suggestion. Sorry, wasn't meant for you.

Go for the SS, or be in regret like most of our V6 brethren. You can always purchase an extended warranty. Wife got a 2010 Impala with 35K on the clock. She has a full GM backed warranty until 2015 or 71K on the clock. Just make sure the car can still have a warranty though. Even if you plan to mod and void it yourself, get a 5000 mile warranty and see if you can't shake any bugs loose in that time before you mod. Best of luck!

Get a SS and without the convertible. Bunch of problems with them. I can assure you that if you don't get a SS you will be pissed in the long run. If your worried about a warranty ask the dealer about a extended warranty. Good luck man!!
