Help-CAI Suggestions

I purchased my 1st Camaro back in the Spring, it's a 2LT/RS convertible. Found this site a few months back, and after exploring the site for a little while I figured it a good move to register (lot of great info especially for a newb). Anyway, I have been looking to swap out the air intake but I don't want to void any coverage offered through either the factory or the MPP extended warranty. I have been working with the dealership I bought the car from even though there are 2 other dealers closer due to customer service so far. When I asked about the cai options the parts department is pushing the Volant intake kit w/ the filter bag, he says it must be ordered and installed through them/his guy (cost after install $502 which is $100 cheaper than at closer dealers). I've noticed most of you suggest the CAI n K&B brand intakes. Also, if they do the add-on will I only be able to go through tis dealership if any problems occur in the future? Thoughts, opinions,etc....

Just adding a CAi will notmally not void the warranty.
Just check with your local dealer and ask them. In some cases, the dealer will install it for you. Mine did.

The dealer said I have to purchase any upgrade through them or they will not install, also said would void warranty if done on my own n there was a prob...I will contact another dealer. How much did they charge you for install, if you don't mind me asking?

All dealerships are going to be different. Some are more lenient than others, it just depends on the situation. I think for your standard intake you shouldn't have much to worry about, as it didn't stop me. Already 4000 miles in and I already have changed out most of the rear suspension and gone with coilovers and an exhaust.

As far as installation goes, doesn't take too long, roughly $100 or under would be a fair price for the job. Let me know if you need any further help!

No idea since they were installing a whole list of things at the time.

BTW, yes I bought the CAI through the same dealer that installed it. They have a long standing relationship with CAI the company.

If it's just a CAI, then no tune is usually necessary.

You should find some good aftermarket shops around Phoenix to use (and probably the same one's are used by the dealers too) or check with Camaro Car Clubs in area. You deserve a better relationship than you are getting.

No tune needed on the CAI.
Contact Matt at Midway or Rick at Courtesy Chevy, they are both mod friendly dealers.
PM me if you need more info on them, they both do excellent work. Check them out on the Arizona All Gens Camaro Club forum and website.

Hafta say that I REALLY like the CAI brand intake... and no tune needed and most dealers have no issue with warranty on the rest of the engine/drivetrain with one installed.

I noticed that you were looking to have it installed by a shop? The CAI intake is SUPER easy to install ... if you can use a screwdriver and a socket wrench, you have the skills needed and it should take 20-30 minutes total (or I am sure there are some Camaro5 folks there in your area that you could talk with about it if you needed moral support (check the regional forums for a local club).

A tune will void the warranty.

516 Mike,

I have a CAI on a SS but im sure it ia as easy to install on an LT. I agree with GnyaTek it should take no longer then 1/2 hour to install in your driveway. you can also contact the guys at CAI (go to there website) they are very helpfull. I bought mine from another member and the guys at CAI hoohed me up with a hose i needed. there is no tune needed.

Good luck!
