Engine Oil Consumption - L99
I do not have this issue. I just ran across the info on a Silverado forum.
This is for vehicles that may be consuming too much oil. Model: 2010-2011 Chevrolet Camaro Built Prior to February 1, 2011 (Updated Valve Cover) and October 2010 (AFM Shield) – Aluminum Block V8 Engine with Active Fuel Management (L99) Oil_consumption.pdf

Very common since 1997. Excellent info except they are trying to avoid deglazing mistakes costing moore in the end so state it is not neccessary. Also, 2-3000 miles in not accurate for rings to seat. That must be accomplished in the first 500 miles or the cylinder glaze will form to hard to allow proper ring seating. The window is short.
All of these issues are prevented (except the valve cover baffel) by installing a proper functioning catchcan when new (and not just any, only a couple actually trap all the oil, or nearly all). Thanks for the link!! |
