Very dissatisfied with Exhaust

Okay, So I was running stock with just SLP Loudmouth 1 axle-back exhaust, which I liked.
Then, i put on the BBK LT's with HFC's and it sounded horrid. Way too loud and raspy (except for warm idle, that was awesome lol).
So i had the stock mufflers welded back on for the time being.

1. I have the Magnaflow Res. X-Pipe on the way now.. Will this be enough to tame the exhaust to be able to handle the SLP LM1?

2. Should i have the SLP LM1 welded on instead of bolted? (During the weeks of driving around with them bolted on, it just seemed like too much air flow and would cause a tinny-like sound. Especially cold starts. Which made me think it was the clamps causing it?)

3. What does removing the stock resonators do? Deeper/louder/raspier/etc?

I'm just really lost right now with my exhaust lol. I know a lot of people love the MRT 2.0, but I would like to work with my LM1. So any input and advice would be great. I haven't been able to find any videos of exact matches to my exhaust, so any personal inputs and opinions would be great.

On a side note, what kind of magic is involved to make the stock mufflers quieter than a Toyota Prius? lol. My car feels bloated ever since putting them back on, and way too quiet.

1. Yes, the magnaflow x-pipe should be able to tame your exhaust enough for the LM1.

2. I would say yea, get it welded but if you can't swing the money for it, its no big deal. Just make sure everything is clamped down well.

3. Removing the stock resonators will make your exhaust louder but will definitely introduce rasp.

4. The stock mufflers are so quiet because of all they contain on the inside. They have dampening material and even some heimholtz (think solo j pipes) pipes to eliminate drone completely.

Thanks man. I'm too impatient lol. I'm aiming to have the x pipe welded in and the slp lm1 welded in by next Wednesday.. until then I'm stuck with this sad/quiet setup

LM1 is basically a muffer delete right, so yes LTs + that would be super loud and raspy as you described.

The magnaflow resonated X should tame that down quite a bit, and give is more of a deeper muscular sound. Your idle sound may not be as aggressive, but thats just the way it is.

Past that, if it still isn't enough, introduce some bullet style resonators like the stock ones further back in the exhaust, basically where they are stock.

Oh, one more thing. If the drone kills you, then throw on some J pipes, (helmholtz pipes)

I road around for about a week without any mufflers, just the pipes after the axle, which was really raspy. I was surprised that the LM1 killed most of the rasp. It was still loud, but refined. Honestly drone doesn't bother me, unless it starts making the car sound like it's falling apart.

Welding the exhaust system controls rasp?

well, since you plan on keeping the LM1 and have bbk w/ HF, all you can really do is get a x pipe to kill the horridness you were experience. it wont get ride of it 100% but it will make it more manageable.

deleting the reasonators adds a bit of rasp but increases volume. I wouldnt recommend doing this as it will make it so much worse. I have mine deleted but with the mrtv2.0 so it makes it just perfect (IMO), i hope you like your BBKs! I want them next

No. But if you didn't tighten the clamps enough, welding will reduce the rattling you'll get

The BBK's are really nice. With the stock mufflers, all you really hear is the growl of the Long Tube's. Which is nice. But there really isn't an exhaust note right now, and I miss it lol. I wish I could say I've felt the added performance, but the 324436543 pound stock mufflers are killing some of my gains

Lol, but in all seriousness, the car breathes better

oh btw I would get the the x pipe put on and if it isnt loud enough for you then, then get the res delete. It makes sense to do it this way..
please post vids after evry step you take because im dying to hear how each variable changes the note and loudness of the exhaust.

I subscibed to this and I am really interested in your future results...When do you think you will get this done?

Please do. I want to get rid of some of the rasp with my LM1, but don't want to cut down the loudness. Hopefully the x pipe does this for you.
