Hello Camaro5!

Hey guys! My name is Kurt. I am 16 and from Ohio. I am from the Dayton area. I have saved up to buy a car and I've been drooling over the Camaro. I only want the automatic V6. I need your input on whether I should purchase this vehicle or not. I also get straight A's so I could get an insurance discount. If there is anything you could tell me to help me out, that would be great!
Thanks,
Kurt

If you've got the money, then I would say do it! Find the car you absolutely are in love with though. Don't settle or you'll regret it. If you look at them and decide you want an RS, save some more money and get the RS. Waiting isn't always a bad thing, don't jump on a deal just because it sounds good. Review all options, and good luck man!

Welcome to the forum.

Don't know if you're looking at new or used, but the '10 V6 models are becoming more attractive price wise. Personally I would recommend at least a 1LT/RS but it depends on what type of mods you want to start with.

Again - welcome to the club and enjoy your time researching. Some of it can become overwhelming at times but that's part of the enjoyment.

Edit: Make sure you have enough $ to get a second set of wheels/tires for winter.

Absolutely.....as long as payments/insurance works out for you. My first car at 16 was my '69 convertible that I still have (28 yrs ownership).

Personally I would say get a manual trans. They are alot more fun.

Manual vs Automatic? Which is better? Also does anyone know approximately what insurance would be?

Listen to your heart and buy what you want, if you don' t you'll always be sorry you didn't. Just remember even the V 6 has a lot of power and may require more experience than someone your age has. I don't mean to doubt your skill as a driver but even I was surprised by this car's power and I've been driving for over 40 years. Any way welcome to the family!

if you know how to drive a manual, and aren't stuck in stop and go traffic on a daily basis, get the manual.

insurance will depend a lot on where you live. you can get free quotes from anywhere.

With straight A's you owe it to yourself to buy the SS.
