Removing Front Bumper Dent

Hi All!

My little brother apparently didn't see my car parked behind his one day and backed right into my Camaro . He hit me dead on in the center of my front bumper and left a little smaller than a baseball size dent. Anyone have any ideas for removing the dent outside of taking it to a body shop? I'd rather not pay the $500 deductible for a small ding.

I found this--
but I'm unsure if that would work for the plastic (Is it plastic?) on my bumper.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Is it in the plastic bumper cover? I removed a baseball sized dent (for the most part) using a heat gun from the backside.

I think you should remove the bumper cover and go at it with a heat gun, you'd be amazed at how it'll pop back into its original shape (or pretty close). At least the paint's not jacked up.

Or buy a new cover.

Yeah you should be able to pop it out BUT the paint is likely spider webbed from something that big which would require it to be sanded down to plastic and repainted. Can't really tell from the pic if it is. Some heat may make the paint more flexible but if its already spider webbed the only fix is new paint.

It looks like it cracked where it into the grill. If that the case it time for a new bumper.

Removing the front bumper is actually quite easy and pretty satisfying. Not much tools is needed to remove the bumper. I was quite please when I installed a grill on my camaro. I thought it was going to be tough. It's about 20 minutes to take off and the same time to put back on. Did it by myself with no damage done to the bumper. So if you are worried about it being complicated to remove it is not.

How in the WORLD do you remove the top 10mm bolt from the fender?! I can barely even get my hand up there much less a ratchet or a wrench!

Take it to a body shop. Let your brother's insurance pay for the entire repair.

Got the bumper off after about 3 hours. Didn't have a jack to take the wheels off, so I had to peel back the fender well and work that way. Finally got it off and worked with a hair dryer to pop out the ding. Still gonna have to take it to a body shop to get out the other little scuffs out. Thanks for the help guys!

Good job! Was there any damage underneath?
