Do you know if it's the same Safari that they're shipping for Windows? How does it compare to Firefox 3 and IE8? I haven't used Safari since it was in beta for windows and at the time it was crap. But, it was beta so can't expect too much.

Safari 4 is the latest version of the blazing-fast web browser. It renders web pages at high speed and delivers a range of new features, including full history search, smart address and search fields, an innovative way to display your top sites, industry-leading support for web standards, and more.

With Snow Leopard, Safari 4 delivers up to 50 percent faster JavaScript performance thanks to its 64-bit support.6 In addition, Safari is even more resistant to crashes. It turns out that the number one cause of crashes in Mac OS X is browser plug-ins. So Apple engineers redesigned Safari to make plug-ins run separately. If a plug-in crashes on a web page, Safari will keep running

The top sites feature is nice. it keeps 12 websites of your choice updated all the time. so when you click on it, it comes right up. and if its a website you have to be logged into. since it is active all the time it stays logged in

On Windows I really don't see a whole lot of reason to use Safari. It's a little bit faster, but really I'd rather wait another second or two and have access to the HUGE amount of Firefox plugins and such.

On a Mac however, Firefox just feels... wrong. Safari is nice if you just want a simple, clean browsing experience.

This is a great feature! I have to say, the design of the Mac interface keeps getting better and better.

Didn't Google Chrome come up with that idea?

Who cares who came up with it? Safari actually managed to implement the idea in a wide range of users. That's good work!

I'm still using Tiger. Maybe I'll upgrade when I move to Chicago.

it even tells you if something on the page has changed since the last time you looked at it. thats what the little stars are for in the picture.
