Hate to say it...

Ok I am looking for a very specific sound for my car. I want a deep low RPM rumble...a good muscle car tone. The one car that every time I pass has this and I hate to say it is....the 5.0 mustang. I know, "Just buy a 5.0 then" but I dont want another mustang, I just came from one and I love everything about the camaro better just not that sound lol. Why do the mustangs sound so much better? Right now I have just a borla atak exhaust and a cold air intake, and wile it sounds nice on startup and WOT, sometimes it seems kinda low and when I hit 3k kinda like high pitched and raspy. I need DEEP hahah. Would high flows fix this? Like I said I dont want to make it raspy loud just deep loud.
Thanks

I can't really help you with the sound but I do agree that the 5.0's do sound awesome. Good luck in your search!

I've always said that the one thing the Mustang has over the Camaro is the exhaust.

I've read the J-pipes help with the rasp.

Our good friends at GM like when you void your warranty. Headers will take care of your exhaust. Headers is what gives the exhaust the rumble, axle backs and cat backs alone tend to sound raspy due to the fact of what they are amplifying. Amplify a header and your amplifying rumble. Granted not everyone is willing to trade a warranty for it.

Sound tone and music is all subjective to thoe who listen..

1st our Camaros will never sound like a Mustang << even if you pu t a Mustang Exhaust on
kind of like trying to get you're Kawasaki V twin to sound like a Harley <<< Never Gona Happen

I'd be listening in person "internet clips dont mean shit" to those already with Camaro Exhausts.. and find something you think you like up front and then go for a ride at cruizing speeds and rpms..

I stuck with factory cat back from Hi Flo Cat's Feed by Ceramic Coated Dynateck Headers from the Cammed LS3 with CAI and Janetty Air Scoop

I maintained a bit more that stock idle tone but lumpy "due to cam" and does have good idle tone IMPO No Drone at speeds / rpm and still a great DD it does barks nice through out once the hammer is dropped..

I agree Mustangs have always sounded better.
they have that tone and without looking you will always know it's a Mustang.

I've had 7 of the buggers over the years.
this is my first GM product since the mid 80s when IROCs ruled and even back then the 5.0 Fox still sounded better.

Lts, cats or no cats, and the JBA 3" will give you a nice deep LOUD rumble.

Adding headers and high flow cats to the ATAK will not achieve what you are describing. It will be substantially louder but to me it still has that higher pitched fluttery ATAK sound. If you want to get a deep muscle car tone you should consider selling the ATAK and looking at a Stainless Works Retro Chambered cat back.

It's all in the firing order. And the Chevy sounded better if not the same as the 302 until the LS motor came out.

Tone is 100% on what system you go with. The camaro seems to be more raspy sounding over the mustang.

If you want deeper go with Flowmaster. The American Thunder is a bit more conservative, while the Outlaw is aggressive. I have the Outlaw and love it. Nothing but deep growl.
