Deployment Help

I am leaving on my deployment whiten a few weeks. To prevent any theft/damage to my car i rented a spot in secure car storage facility. the only thing is a E-3 such as myself cant afford to have it inside the building.

so i am living near Seattle. tons of rain/salt, not to mention all the birds dropping bombs taking my clear coat off. i will be gone up to 8 -9 months.

what kind is the best car cover for me (if any). i have looked around but couldnt find one that fit my needs exactly and i know if i leave it uncovered im going to get back and have ruined paint job.

the only thing i would really like is for it to have some way to attach underneath so it wont blow away.

help

I have a Covercraft NOAH and it's great. I use it if my car will be sitting for a while.

It does have a cable w/ lock that goes underneath to secure it.

Powerman, I am not sure if you have to leave your keys when you rent the place or not. If you do make sure you take photos of the odometer when you park it.. I would also inform them that I have pictures of the odometer so they can pick someone else's car to joyride in.

I assume you are going to call the insurance and tell them its in storage. Make sure you get whatever coverage you can for replacement. You should have a lower insurance payment, just make sure you ask what options you have for replacement. If my car was damaged enough to be replaced, I would want at least a new 2013 to replace my 2011. I think its called GAP insurance option.

If you get to park it yourself you can put down some thick plastic on the cement, then some carpet on top of the plastic, then park it on the carpet. You can sometimes go to carpet places and just ask for some scraps. They usually have tons of that shit. Its called end of roll.

I think what happens is the pavement or cement leches moisture out of the rubber. So the barrier prevents that leching.

Not sure if that helps.

If you mean flat spots on your tires, Adams Polishes has these available. A bit expensive...IMO...but if they work...

i had to break down and rent a inside unit.. asked about break in.. lady said "oh we have a good lot only a couple every few months".... apparently the crime around the city is alot worse around other areas. they just hop the secured fence break a window for the cars in the outdoor storage and steal whatevers inside.. and let me tell you my car no question was the nicest thing out there if i parked in that lot.

Sappy , when my unit got deployed the command was able to secure a storage facility for the cars of the soldiers being deployed. Is your unit not doing anything similar?

I'm fairly surprised there isn't a secured perimeter on base where you can leave the Camaro.

my command is an aircraft carrier, on a medium sized base. The base is allowing long term parking but its RIGHT next to the ocean. so

salt would be a huge issue along with the millions of seagulls.. the biggest problem is the sailors themselves. there are bad people in

every part of the world and a few get into the military sadly. The shipmates and contractors that are left on base have nothing better

to do and the long term lot is well known that if its there, the owner is no where close. The worst part is the MA's do patrol 24/7 and if

you vehicle is broken into they will take a pic of it and inform the command.. thats it. then your car sits in the elements for 6 months

with no window and your helpless.
