Thinking of trading my camaro in....
i've had a 2010 camaro ss/rs manual since last june. i love the car and all but i've really diggin the looks of this CLA AMG. and now that the official picks leaked today im sure when i have enough money to get the car i will trade.
im a big C63 AMG fan and thats the car i really wanted when i got the camaro but i couldnt afford it. traded my 350z in for the SS. wanted more power and a car with backseats bigger trunk. thing is i drive 40 mins to nyc daily. im tired of gas and driving stick daily. sitting in traffic is annoying. snow sucks. CLA AMG wont be as expensive as C63. its gonna be AWD. more luxury than camaro. 2.0 turbo with 355 HP quicker to 60 and better on gas. and it wont be stick. thinking of doing the trade. what you guys think? |

Not sure why people post these. It sounds like you have already made up your mind. Why would you want a total stranger to tell you different. Not trying to be snarly I just do not understand.

They are different cars for different people. You need to do what is gonna work for you.
The car will not be faster then an SS. As fast possibly but from what I've read it'll be a tenth or 2 slower in the 0-60. Also a boosted 4cyl is just not gonna compare to a V8 to me. If you're looking for a small sedan I'm sure it'll be a nice car.

well i havent made up my mind. the car isnt even out yet for one. ppl post these because cars obviously cost a lot and not sure if they wanna be locked in payments for a car they might not want to keep. i figured maybe ppl here might give me opinions on other cars that they might trade their car in for if they were me. sorry for bothering you

yeah thats one of the things that i love about my car. this car stands out. turns heads and ppl always ask me about the car. most ppl cant even tell the difference between a regular benz and a AMG. most mercedes look the same anyway unless they cost at least $80K

NYC? manual Shift SS camaro is the worst car to have, I would get something smaller, easier to park with better visability, more fuel efficient, and definitly an automatic. You can have all those things and still have a really nice car.

MB AMG's are nice and MB makes a decent vehicle, but just make sure you have the $'s past the warranty period. Else find a good MB independent mechanic. Parts and labor aren't cheap and neither is the A and B services.
That's why I am now in favor of the US brands now. Build quality is much better than it used to and parts are easier to find and labor isn't as bad. Either way you go, good luck and have fun. |

OP: I understand your concerns about your current 2SS in reference to the manual tranny in traffic, the expense for fuel, mastering challenging road conditions (snow) safely and the lack of space, as compared to more traditional sedans. They're valid points, to be sure.
If you can handle the financial end of it without digging a (deeper?) hole for yourself then go forth, young man. Happiness has to come from the inside and you owe it to yourself and your family to do that which satisfies you and ensures their safety as well as making all of you happy, in the long run.
