Does anybody know how often the rail car information is updated on their automated phone systems. For example my rail car has said that it would arrive in Proviso IL ON 6/20 (today) at 12:00PM. it's said this since yesterday morning. Does anybody know if cars change what rail car they're on? Do the trains run on the weekend? Thanks.

I know the online tracker only updates once or twice per day, not sure about the phone system but I would guess it would be the same.

I called in the morning 7am and then again at 3pm and there was new information. If you get to talk to a human instead of the automamted system you'll get an accurate update.

But to add this because we have a stern warning from GM. In order for them to continue to provide updated information we need to keep our tracking of rails and trucks to only automated systems. If they get wind of members talking to live personnel at either source our stream of information will end immediately and they will dispatch fbodfather with the black suburbans....The system updates in real time as a railcar is scanned into a new location It is not going to show exactly where it is but it will update as to its last check point along the way.

This is why I've just been calling the automated line, but there has been no update on my rail car since Friday. Should I be concerned? What do you guys think? Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. Conductor probably wanted the father's day weekend off. Besides, there's nothing you can do about it anyways heh.

Mine worked great. I was able to call all hours of the day and night, it told me the arrival or departure points and time automatically on CP Rail.

im pretty sure the rails move on the weekend, im right near a rail yard and i see the union pacific railcars carrying cars all day of the week...wether there full or not is a dif story

Before I say what I'm gonna say, I don't want you to panic...
There was a big train wreck in Rockford, IL on Friday night where a train carrying tankers full of ethanol derailed and exploded. One woman in a car waiting at a crossing was burned to death.

There haven't been any reports of what other types of railcars this train was hauling.

My thinking is not that your railcar was attached to that train but that the mess has probably slowed or stopped all rail traffic around that area.

Well, maybe not (now that I've looked). Rockford is not terribly close to Proviso. Of course I don't know the route that trains take in and out of Proviso.

Still, maybe it has something to do with traffic in the area.

I saw that. Fitting, since I did order "Inferno" Orange Metallic. But if that's the case. That's fine. I hope people in that area can get back to normal and my thoughts and prayers go out to those that died in this horrific accident. It puts my desire to have a "automobile" at such a trivial level compared to the loss of life.

So finally got some movement..I think. I called the automated line and it said:
"active billing on rail car ETTX******, 784156, departed Oshawa, final destination Salt Lake City"

Then I called back and it said:

"Interchange received IHB Proviso, IL IHB June 22nd 9:54am, TTA Estimated Time of arrival at Industry June 27th, 12:02am.

So I'm guessing it's not going to arrive in Salt Lake Until Friday night..... or is it going to depart IL Friday night.......

This is killing me slowly........LOL!
