45th sitting on lot for a year now...
Local dealer has this 45th Convertible that's still brandy new and asking around $42k. First, is that a reasonable ask and second, any idea why this gem would still be available so long? Is there an issue with the 45th Verts?

That 45th needs a good home. Dealer needs to drop price.

Where is this car located? Was it an SS?

If it's early in the model year (e.g. before 04/12) it may develop the conditions which require the new top.
That's not the worst of it. There are still new '11 Neiman Marcus 2SS/RS convertibles sitting on lots with the $75K price tags.

If it's a v6, they're asking way too much and that's probably why it has been sitting for so long.
If it's a v8... doesn't seem bad.

42K for even an SS vert is high. A lot of them were "born" in late 2011 so it has been sitting for almost two years...dealers start taking hits after several months from GM for new vehicles in their inventory. A friend who used to work auto sales told me the dealer has to start paying a fee to GM after 9 months for any new vehicle still on the lot. Blue book for that new is listed at 39-40K (SS 45th vert). Dealer will come down on price...
