Datona 500 or Bumblebee Z-28 edition???
Thanks for this great site. I became more interested in the new Camaros after seeing the recent MT articles, playing around on the chevy.com site, and recenlty viewing/sitting in (it was sold so no test drive allowed) a 2010 RY 2LT Camaro. Back in 1985 when I was 23, I was driving by a Chevy dealership and there was a nice black Z-28 with silver lowers, black louvres, auto trans, and loaded with all the goodies. It was a leftover 1984 with the 4 barrel 305. I loved that car and never really got it out of my system. Now after college, graduate school, marriage, home ownership, and years of 'practical" cars, I'm looking for something to hide in my garage and take out here and there to terrorize all the local golfers in the Mercedes
.What do y'all think the response would be to some special edition Camaros such as the gorgeous Daytona 500 version or the Bumblebee Z-28. Put me down for the Bumblbee Z!!!! I want one .

Welcome to the forum. At this point there won't be a Z or any other factory built car beyond the SS but there already are and will be a bunch more options for aftermarket built rocketships. Enjoy

The response would be halfway decent if such a unique Camaro makes production. Be aware that you won't see them everywhere. Limited production cars are limited artificially in order to keep the price high, so be aware that a limited Camaro will be an expensive, fast car. It might not look that different than the current SS, so people will complain, "I could have painted those black stripes and slapped on new wheels for way less!" That's why it might sell to a few buyers, but most will shrug off any special Camaro.
There is not enough evidence to suggest that a Z28 is currently in Chevrolet's future. New fuel efficiency regulations make the likelihood of new performance cars even lower than they were when GM declared that it might be in trouble last year. It is possible that a Z28 may make production, but the speculation is that it will cost a lot.

Thanks for the reply. The Z-28's usually have different hood, GFX in addition to the badges, wheels and some cabin differences. Since the postings about the new car featured in the transformers, I am hopeful. I'm a year away from buying anyway so we'll see. I like the front end, hood, wheels, richer color of the Bumblbee though. Sweet.

I agree on the other aspects of the car. Bumblebee is a very attractive Camaro, and I'd like to see a Z28 based off of its design.

Yeah, the design elements (hood and front fascia) are sweet. The wheels would need work, though. I saw what looked liked two different rear spoilers in the Transformers film clip...one that looked like the current version on the RS packages and then a wingy thingy. I want something in between the two...perhaps a raised version the the current RS spoiler.

Uh huh. Visited the main page of this site lately. That's what I'm talking about. And get rid of the cheap plastic excuse for a front grill while you guys (the designers) are at it. I'll thank you for that. I suspect the grille insert aftermarket option will sell well for those with the 2010 Camaros.
