Question Why isn't there a manual way to open the trunk??

So... I decide to leave my battery unplugged overnight to reset the computer after installing my K&N. I throw everything back into the trunk, close the trunk and head to bed.

In the morning I come back to throw the negative cable back on, and after about 3 minutes of shuffling around I figure out there is no way to get the trunk open without the car being powered.

At first I freak, then I remember the back seats fold down and the trunk has a trunk release. So here I go looking like a retard climbing into my car through the back and into the trunk...

I get it opened no biggie but I'm still shaking my head trying to understand why a manual open latch wasn't designed into a car with a trunk battery....

Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

I think you just described the manual way... just saying...
And yes, this is a known gotcha.

Technically, that could be considered the manual way to open it lol.

pop your hood
connect battery charger to the jump start points under the hood
use key fob to open trunk.

I believe this is even in your owners manual..

It is super easy on the convertible. You can just reach under the Tonneau and pull the release.

I think the main reasons why there is no manual trunk lock are convenience and security. People use their remote key today to open doors/trunks. If it was available, the chances of someone using a manual lock is slim. Also, the typical car owner almost never disconnects their battery for any reason. Priorites and technology in cars have changed.....some for the good and some for bad.

Try being in the same situation, with a roll cage in the way. I had my 9 year old sister crawl back there.

Suck it up, Airmaster. If I have to copy all my CDs to jump drives... you can crawl through the backseat to open your trunk (hopefully only this one time). Victims of technology.
