Steering Wheel Controls Upgrade Possible?

So I just joined the forum, just bought my 2010 Camaro 1LT, used to own a 2001 BMW 325Ci. Was on the bmw forums non stop, so pretty excited about joining this one. Love the new camaro, driving manual is a lot more fun. Anyway one option that I really miss is the steering wheel mounted audio controls. My camaro didn't come with them, I know they are available, but I didn't get that package. I've seen the part is available for purchase individually through, for example GMpartsdirect. I have the boston audio system, no Bluetooth, is the steering wheel controls just plug and play ? of do they require pulling wires up to the steering wheel? or anything weird? or is there a connector just sitting behind that cover on my steering wheel? Anyone ever done this mod ?

You need to install the harness (and buttons) and have a dealer program your car to recognize the buttons
