Unfair Advertsing

Just a short rant here. Anyone else see the current Lexus IS Series TV adds this last weekend. They ran a bunch during the US Open.

Shows a bunch of Lexus coupes doing donuts and drifting around city streets.

If GM tried to pull that kind of an add off with the very capable Camaro, they would get cooked! Where is the justice?

Lexus doesn't have to face the question of "why are my tax dollars being used for this?"

GM was forced to pull the Jumping Jack Flash 2005 Corvette ad (one of the best ever) because of pressure from a few nut cases

This is another example of the liberal media picking and choosing how to shape and mold what get's reported and aired in this country. Where's the out cry to "protect" our youth......

wouldn't it make more scene to spend those dollars on R&D then advertising? with the cost of advertising these days i cant believe it when i see this ridiculous commercials that are costing millions of dollars, then these company's are asking for more bail out money, that really grinds my gears! although i feel airlines are the worst offenders of this...

Not really. Lexus has Plenty of money for both and getting the word out "advertising" sells cars. Also if you have any idea currently advertising is relatively inexpensive these days. I am a 6 time Camaro owner and current Lexus IS owner. Lexus has their R&D done!

It not the liberal media pulling commercials, its the pressure from the crying soccer moms. The liberal media(I use that term with skepticism, that's a whole can of worms we don't want to open here) only decides what angle to report the news from or what to report on. Since the news services are profit driven and politically motivated today, unlike the good old days. We will continue to see a slant on news one way or the other.

Oh yeah I remember that ad campaign, it was awesome. I will be happy when the child worship phase this country is coming out of is finally gone.

i was talking in more general terms not specifically about Lexus. they are not receiving bail out money...

weather or not its "relatively inexpensive" (relative to what?) its still money that could be better served some where else; namely the product being advertised. if the products (cars in this case) were built better to begin with then the manufactures would need to spend as much money on advertising. it just seems to me that they overcompensate with these elaborate commercials all while the quality of the product diminishes due to lack of funding...
