CAI " cold air induction " protection .

I recently ordered a CAI from Apex and is about to install .
My concern is that I have heard that it is not good if it be in rain .I wonder if its true or it will be ok .Im a daily driver for 50 miles a day so it will be in rain for sure .
If its bad is there anything that could help for it ?.I don't want my engine to be exploded with a few drops of water be sucked in there .
There is something called Hydrolock( 25 $) from Injen I think .will it protect ?

Absolutely not true. You are good to go. Drive it like normal.

What brand / style of cold air intake(CAI) did you buy?

If it's the kind that sits in the place of the factory air box, then no problem (CAI, Rotofab, K&N, etc.).

If it's the "long tube" kind that snakes down low by the wheel (Injen makes on of these), then yes you should get the water shield.

Yep, you are good to go and should have no worries. You would literally have to drive in 2+ feet of water to run any risk of hurting anything. Injen offers their hydrosheild because their intake system actually positions the filter down in the wheel well area and there is a greater chance of getting the filter wet. Their dry flow filter's do not like to flow when they get wet either.

President Obama just called: he said due to the sequester, your intake will suck in rain and ruin your engine.
