Don't be cheap on oil changes. Every three thousand miles.

Depends on when you were born. Before 1975 you'll change it every 3,000 no matter what because of ignorance. If you find yourself not driving very aggressive then that will change things, but give yourself about 5k-7500 miles between if not.

Your guess is as good as anyone else's on this site. My oil life % showed 32% when I did my first oil change and the mileage was almost 5000 miles before I chickened out and said "To heck with this" and changed it. I am now at around 8000 miles and my oil life % was at 72% this past weekend (when I checked it last). I will probably change it around 9000 miles regardless of what the oil life % says. I know sythetics are much better/slipperier, but I'm old school and still trying to adjust my default thinking about changing the oil every 3000 miles.

Some things in life just never change. Youngins knowing everything about everything based solely on superior intellect!

Actually, many of the "youngins" are knowing everything based on scientific research and testing done by billion dollar companies. But hey, why believe what they say right? Let's just go ahead and not go swimming after eating for 30 minutes either.

+10. You do not need to change your oil @ 3k miles. Average is about 8k, unless you're racing, of course. If which case, the oil life % is irrelevant.

I take it you have on hand some of these billion dollar companies' scientific research papers that you can post so the rest of us can be as informed as you.

I'll dig around and try to find some for you. But keep in mind Mobil1 warranties against defects due to the oil for 15,000 miles between changes for their EP.
